Default is it an irish thing

Or am I becoming my mammy

A person I haven't seen a lng time calling over later

And there nothing in the house, like not even a biscuit for the tea,

I feel the need to bake something or have something

Reminds me of the epic cleaning before the visitors

That scene you paint sounds very familiar, just rush out and buy the finest, most expensive biscuits you can get or a Swiss roll or one of those triangle cakes covered with chocolate and you'll be ok.

Plenty of firms out there who will deliver,,,Chinese , Indian, Domino's, or indeed the local chipper.

And then there's Tesco as well

They could ring the bell at a climatic moment, which is, of course, a downside.
