    Thumbs up Barbie gets real!

For decades, the 'Barbie' doll from toy and games company, Matell, has not only been one of the most successful doll franchise, but it has been the center of many controversial 'body perfect' debates.

I have found this article about an artist slash blogger, Nickolay Lamm, who has created a more realistic 'body perfect' version of the Barbie doll in a bid to protest that 'normal is beautiful'.

So what do you think? I think the new Barbie's arse looks amazing!

Here is the full article: http://nickolaylamm.com/art-for-clie...average-woman/

    She always looked like that.

    She was just photo-shopped.

I'd seen this awhile ago, and I like the concept behind it. The contrast between 'classic Barbie' and 'real Barbie' (whose proportions were designed to reflect the median average proportions of young women) goes a long way towards the unrealistic and unreasonable ideals and standards of beauty that women and girls are exposed to.

Just to mention it, I've also seen in a documentary on steroids and bodybuilding a comparison of 'action figures', noting the changes in the physique of our old friend 'G.I. Joe' since the early 70's... Let's just say that Joe has been spending an inordinate amount of time in the gym, and has most likely been 'juicing' to get as big as he's become...

So young boys are also exposed to rather unrealistic depictions of masculinity and body image from an early age as well.
    Fighting the Good Fight...
