Imo most important is that you feel comfortable in your clothes :
If you're not used to wearing a suit but now will don one for the occasion , you'll be ill at ease , uncomfortable.
We can pick up on those vibes , but won't know the reason for your lack of relaxation , reason for your tenseness.
It can ruin a perfectly good evening if you wear new shoes , ill fitting clothes , clothes that you are not comfortable in , etc.
I say keep within your normal range , but be sparkling clean. >> if you're used to jeans and a shirt , brill. But be fresh xx
If you're a suit guy , that's the way to go.
To me , the energy I get off the man is so much more important than whatever he might be wearing ... xx
