Very hard to rejoice in the passing of anyone but in his case it's almost impossible to separate him as a man from the bigotry and misery he perpetuated on and against the Nationalist population of Northern Ireland.

Hopefully some good may come of his passing in that people will look back and aspire to never allow a situation like that happen again.

I won't hold my breath though.

    Hardly the right attitude.
    Especially from you DOB

As Human Beings we should never take pleasure in the death of any other Human Being, no matter who he is.
As John Donne the poet said, "any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

Don't know why there is a thread here about this man.
Why ? I don't think he agreed with the escorting scene

This site has always commented on things beyond escorting like current affairs.

Good rule of thumb when dealing with religious people, if you enjoy it, they don't approve. If you enjoy visiting escorts.. well work it out.

Aside, somewhere too, in my heart, perhaps, I agree with DOB's original sentiment. But my Humanist mind goes with John Donne's sentiment.

Post in 'General chat' which I interpret as 'shooting the breeze' so to speak.

Interesting man, who hasn't gotten the blame he deserves for stoking up the troubles with his unique brand of bigotry. A thorough ignoramus with a twisted and destructive version of Christianity yet could show kindness and clear vision when it suited him.
I'm not cheering at his death as SteveB suggests, just pointing out that i never thought that much of him and that the world wasn't improved by having him around.

He'll be very pissed when he gets to heaven to discover god is a catholic and a Celtic supporter.

Or to hell to listen to the wolf tones for EVER. EVER. EVER.

Just to go off thread, and to again underline the complexities of the "Irish Situation", Wolfe Tone was a protestant.
