I would like to get the opinions of any escorts as to the relative merits of apartments versus hotels for escort work, with a particular emphasis on personal security considerations.

What brought this question to mind, was the recent assault and attempted robbery of Brenda Beauty Babe in Galway. From what I have heard it occured in a hotel room and two men were involved.

Most touring escorts seem to favour hotels and increasingly, escorts based in Dublin seem to tour in other locations from time to time to drum up more business. This may be due to increased competition amongst more escorts and the economic downturn. From a non-escort perspective, I would have assumed that apartments would by and large be safer. Given the increasing number of apartments becoming available (and rents now starting to reduce) escorts have a greater choice to select from and most major cities and towns with a tourist trade also have tourist apartments that can be rented on a weekly or even daily basis. In selecting an apartment, escorts can look for such security features as CCTV, a peep-hole in the apartment door and depending on location, a view of the street outside and the entrance to the apartment block. These features usually don't come with an hotel room. In other words, I would tend to view apartments, especially were more girls are living together as a safer environment, not to mention the other drawbacks of hotels from both the escorts and clients perspective.

Escorting is by it's very nature a risky business, but I wonder, if escorts sometimes try to maximise their earnings potential at the expense of minimising the security potential. Rather than sticking to a safer environment, escorts seem to take unnecessary risks for higher rewards; using hotels for in-calls being one and doing outcalls to clients they don't know well being the other obvious one.

Brenda recently increased her rates for new clients as a result of this attack, and I can't say that I blame her for that, but surely the more sensible approach is to reduce the risk factor where possible. Without wanting to be accused of being flippant, Brenda although she was very unfortunate in being attacked, may have been lucky that what happened to her was not even worse. Other people have been less fortunate in the past. It's one thing for an escort to decide to charge more as a result of a perceived higher risk factor attached to the job, but what price does one put on ones life in pursuit of greater financial reward.

I suspect that this aspect of escort security or something similar has already been dealth with in the escort private discussion section of the site. However, I feel that it is an important issue and deserves a general airing, especially as to my knowledge, many escorts with a limited knowledge of english never make full use of the facilities of the site.
