I travel there next Friday. I need recommendations for a good bar that is not Irish themed.

Also I was recommended to drink unicum, I plan this sunday and monday.

For fun i suggest Hooters bar which is in the centre of Budapest, for a nice classy bar try The Corinthia hotel, its very central and the architecture in the hotel is breath-taking. There's also a real good sports bar, if you're into your football or whatever, the name slips me, i'll try find out and they do a mean steak...

If you have a few hours spare and want to unwind take a short taxi ride to Szechenyi spa, its lots of fun, open til 10pm ish *maybe later in the summer* and serves alcohol from a small bar so everyone is tipsy and its really friendly, you get to meet people from all over the world there.

As for that Unicum...its very strong...be warned...

Is such a typical Irish thing to do...go abroad and head straight for an Irish bar!! Guilty of it myself on quite a few holidays

Personally, I recommend Szimpla Kert. It's a ruin bar in the Jewish quarter. Really awesome place.
