I was just contemplative today, started typing and didn’t know where to stop, I agree completely that Education is the key to everything in most everything. I wasn’t having a go honest, I just have an interest in history and am always amazed how lessons of the past resurface to have value in the present.

I was only messing about the water levels falling instead of rising, but is not a forgone conclusion that they will rise, the current events could trigger an ice age just as easy. But theoretically if all the Ice was in the form of bergs in the ocean and they melted then the level should in theory fall as ice expands, just as if you pushed a dish into the bath the level would rise and fall when you remove it, I know the vast majority of Ice is on the Greenland and Antarctic land masses and is currently out of the water. This is the kind of crap I find myself thinking about.

Also Kilimanjaro is technically shrinking as both its summit Ice is melting faster and its sheer bulk is deforming the subsurface strata causing it to sink a tiny bit... :P

You say the North pole will melt and become part of the Ocean, sorry ric but even now in its frozen state its still part of the Ocean as its almost all sitting in it, and as frozen water has a higher volume then liquid its possible that the sea levels might fall upon melting, which would be a day for Carlos to rejoice as the land bridge to the “Mainland” would once again be opened only this time we all should agree to rush them this time instead.

OK you got me there, yes its still part of the ocean.

But I never said that the sea level is going to rise. In fact its been determined that sea levels will increase very little. Its either by a few inches or somewhere less than a meter.

In any case with the poles melted it provides Earth with no reflective protection from the Suns rays. This will increase the greenhouse effect to the point of no return. Earth will become something similar to one of our neighboring planets, a wasteland with an atmosphere and climate unable to support Human life. End game.

But just because we'll be gone it doesn't mean that its the end of Earth. It will take millions of years for mother-nature to regenerate the planet.

I like to think that Mother-Nature created Mankind for the sole purpose of bringing the planet to its next evolutionary revolution. Think about it.
