    High Alexi.

I wanted to ask if I could ask your opinion on a couple of Theological Questions I have, now or at some point in the future. I arrived at these questions though long and coincided calm thought, and have hit something of a brick wall in ever answering them as if would require someone of deep faith, knowledge and openness to all aspects of religion to give a proper balanced perceptive. I have arrived at a different destination from you on these matters, but I would love a fresh view point from you as you are open minded and are a free thinker and is obviously incredibly well read on this subject, and would not come at it from a dogmatic stance, (which is one reason I’m so put of by overly organized religions) and would value your perspective enormously.

Even though I am a non-believer, (In the area of Roman Catholicism at any rate) I am that because my mind is to given over to logic and what I can see and touch, and I concede that is a failing, as I do believe that there is more to heaven and Earth then may be ever explained through science, I’m just not sure what that is, and it would be arrogance in the extreme for me to rule out completely the existence of something more.

I also have total respect for people’s faith, as it is a huge part of billions of people’s lives, and how dare I or anyone knock those beliefs, I never would, my questions would be asked in seeking fresh perspective and go to the heart of why Humans have belief systems in built and would like to question some aspects of them to better understand, and to posit where faith may go in the future, it may be of interest.

If you don’t want to, don’t have the time, or feel that this is not the place for such a discussion, I completely understand...

Its just I love to have my assumptions or beliefs tested or amended by new info. from people who know what there talking about.

    Would that be O.K.?

Firstly its not the place but here goes anyway.

We were given freedom of choice, that little thing called a conscience. Thats something you can feel right?

Well that was Gods little input. It tells us whether something is right or wrong, good or bad. Now unfortunately the Churches have not exactly given the best examples over the years. I mean, Sex. Adam and Eve weren't married and neither was Mary when she was impregnated. The love of Jesus life was Mary Magdalene, she wasn't a prostitute but a mistress to many men.

Some of us need to fine tune our consciences a little they've gone off track. We do this by thinking about thing carefully.

The right things to do in life are often the hardest thing to do.

Ok How do I explain why not to kill a pedophile?

Well I'd love to but here's the thing, who will be there for my child when I'm in jail. Not good enough answer, well what about his mother, sister, father? Ask yourself what would god do. Well any one of us can have A moment of weakness, but for those of us but to truly repent in order to reap forgiveness is to get forgiven by your victims that are left behind.

When we start to listen to the little bit of god in all of us then we can start to make a difference.

Now, I hope this helps anyone with any questions. And if not PM me I'll answer any others.

Islam/Muslims............. Do not believe in war, or the oppression of women. Muhammad was ask who do you respect first, to which he replied. " Your mother, your mother, your mother and then your father."

Hinduism ............ Believe if sex's brings you joy then it is not wrong.

Kindness, companionship, compassion, empathy are just a few things requited in order to evolve as Human beings.

Remember no victims = no sins.

    Alexi,

In awe here, fantastic thought process and reasoning. What you say about conscience is interesting, I hadn’t thought of it that way, I thought of it more as a sounding board of sorts, that you bounce your decisions and views off of and get feedback on whether its right or wrong, but I had not thought of where that feedback is generated in the first place. Conscience is something intangible, ephemeral and without a physical form or location in the brain, could well be given by a higher power,

In relation to the church and sex/Adam and Eve, I leave the churches teachings out of everything when deciding if something is right or wrong, I do as you and look for the slightest trace of harm done to anyone, and if there is none, then by definition its not a sin, simple as...that does for me in most everything...

I agree about the stance on pedophile’s, taking an eye for an eye in the modern world would only lead to more loss on the part of the child, and a wise parent would not allow there own anger to rob a child of more.

Also agree about true forgiveness it can only be given by the victim, I find it offensive to think as the Catholic church does, that all you have to do is go into a little box and confess, say a few prayers and everything’s grand.

I’ve always known that true Islam respects Women utterly, and is one reason I like it, and the tenant uttered by Mohammed is fantastic and one I’ve by literally in my personal life, and one I'll remember, I have heard a few of the teachings he made and always found them to make eminent sense.

I think one of the Issue’s with Islam is that there seems to be things in the Koran that more radical elements latch onto and use as a license for violence and subjugation of Women (IE Taliban regime prior to invasion) anytime a terrorist incident takes place, a true representative of Islam has to make the announcement that the act runs contrary to Islam’s teachings, and I do believe that, but is there any website that has the True version of the Koran in English as I’d love to read it and see for myself.

The same applies to the Bible also as atrocities have been committed by people down through History who claimed to be doing Gods work, neither religion is blameless.

I not religious myself, but am spiritual, I take the best things from a few religion’s as they make perfect sense for me or anyone to follow, I just not sure there’s a higher power, but that’s no reason not to follow the sound advice that many religions offer, I do hold a special place for the Virgin Mary as my Mother found her to be of huge help to overcoming issues she had, and the only prayer I ever say is a Hail Mary every anniversary of her passing, I do find that helps me also, so I do know what value faith can have for people.

My questions were more Philosophical and Theological in nature and not provocative in any way, but if it would not be an imposition on you I’d like to ask one or two either open or by pm if that’s ok, but in light of hope eloquently you posted here, I like to word then something approaching how well you have.

Ps Thank you for the Food for Thought...

Or QPH could make an app with you for a while and "just talk", that way he would kill 2 birds with 1 stone, get his answers and pop his cherry as far as punting goes and gain extra cred on these boards (if thats possible )

    Alexi. and Anon..

    That’s an Idea...

What’s the rate for just talking Alexi.

Plus I did a proof reading course a few years ago, (honest) so I could do a deal with you, you talk, I read, wouldn’t make for the most riveting review of all time, but I’m sure we could make something up.

as Anon said, kill to birds with one stone.

I’d need a little time to word my questions, and would it be ok to post on open forum ?
But I might leave it for the future, as I’d like to do the subject justice.

You said this is not the place for it, and I would not wish to offend... as Anon also said earlier to leave this topic out, and I have time for him also, he’s a smart man (even for Meath)
