I decided today it's been too long since my last checkup so this time I said I would attend one of the clinics in Dublin, so I go online and I see the walk in clinic is open in St. James's. What a joke, in I go and up to reception, u need to speak to a nurse, grand I said over to the blue door as directed and fair enough within 15 mins I was sitting down talking to the nurse.
Politely she asked was I showing any symptoms to which I said no, well the clinic she informs me can only see roughly 30 people per day and altough they don't start untill 1 pm there would be a Q from 8:45am. Would u like to make an appointment for a Friday, grand I said so off back to the receptionist and as instructed I asked for the next available Friday appointment, 23rd of April she tells me and 2 weeks on top of that for the results, if I was very active how many people would I infect over a month!!!
Looks like it's back to the local Gp, or can anyone recomend a private doctor that can give results in a hurry, hate the waiting around eventough I'm sure all will be negative??

try the meridian clinic in blanchardstown i always get mine done there althought i have my company medical there it costa an exta 120euro for the std check up you will have results in about two weeks thats the normal waiting time

then they didnt test you for everything hun

as some tests can take two weeks to get a result from not because the hospial is lazy but because it takes that long to get a result

True, I didnt get all test it seems, most important HIV was negative. But next time will get more tests....

Ah indeed the great Irish Health system walk in clinics me arse.....

Firstly are you more concerned with HIV than the others ?????
If you are there is a doc on the southside who does a HIV instant test.
The results are reliable and accurate.
The instant tests are being used by the WHO in Africa etc where normal labs are not available.
Some of the worlds top bio-tec companys are producing them for example Trinity Biotec.
Also Abbott labs have a version.
Anyway I go to him and the cost is €60.
You can always go for the others later on.

For a full screen the Medical Ctr in Smithfield does the lot inc HIV for €120.

well Anon361 waitin for labs is a fact of life. For what its worth theres a grand GPs on Jervis Street, make appt, go in pay 50 euro, say yer concerned about std, they'll take urine and bloods (maybe a swab or two from your penis if yer exhibiting symptoms), the doc will probably give you a prophylactic prescrip for some kick-ass antibiotics and then ya don't have to even sweat the labs coz the antibiotics are enough to kill an elephant, so that would be my advice (learned at painful experience)

If yer genuinely worried about HIV two things:

1 Why the heck would ya be shagging profligately if you are concerned if yer infected

2 Whats the diff in a few weeks for a diagnosis?? Ya got major lifestyle changes if ya are testedpositive (which undoubtedly you arent)
