they are trying to fight a recession with without monetary policy which is now in the hands of the EU.I think if a country goes into recession then the gov should have the right to control their own interest rates.Slashing interest rates is the quickest way to recover from a recession.

Where the budget is going bad is cutting public service workers who earn just 30,000 a year by 5% is just disgusting. 7.5% and 10% are really fair cuts but why stop there why not look at all the allowences higher earners get to enjoy. There needs to be a complete over haul of the public service a radical reform. In my situation I am paid my full salary for the year while I attend college which is also subsidised because is an investment I guess. Private companies do it too of course. But this one example of waste that could be changed.

As for rates even talking about a cut is ridiculous thanks to germany and france they will go up. Which makes people who are unemployed using that money to service mortages that cut of 4.1% will be made worse.
