We learnt about the various invasions in Ireland,,,,,,,,,Viking,,,English etc and we have at last succeeded in repelling them. No doubt they enriched our culture.

We also allowed in hugeonots, and pallatines,, a few vietnamese and others in with a cead mile failte.

I find the present situation strange.

Those who make decisions on our behalf, somehow, do not seem to have halting sites (for example) close by.

Indeed. Friends of mine throughout the continent-- the same people who were rushing to hand out care packages to incoming refugees-- have quickly changed their tunes when local authorities have announced new refugee settlements and centres in their neighborhoods...

It always sounds like a good idea when it's somewhere else, but when it's close to home, it becomes 'Not in MY backyard'..
