    Default 5 years today

Just thought I would share. Today is my 5 year anniversary of quitting the cigarettes.

Mar 15th 2006 was the day, took the bull by the horns and went for a few pints on day one as well. That worked for me but everyone is different.

It was my fourth attempt to give them up as well so I guess all I am trying to say is if any of you are really trying to give them up, dont lose heart. It is possible and you will get there in the end.

I am still only going day by day with them, cant let your guard down really but happy I got this far anyway. Good luck if you are trying and if you aren't enjoy them .

Congratulations and well done takemedrunkimhome. Stopped for two years before and started again. A thread like this gives me hope.

This is outstanding, well done for being so strong. I wish I'd be strong enough to do it.

Wrong as it may sound, I just love my cigarettes way too much.

Yeah I still miss them. I am the total opposite to most people that give them up really. I still go outside to the smoking shelter at work and when I am in the pub still go outside with my mates for the smell of them.

    Weird I know lol.

Thanks for the good wishes people. We can be like a little support group here lol.

Keep it up, off them over 10 years now and wouldn't touch one again.
Even though sometimes you do really feel like having one every now and then. That's all it is, a feeling which passes as quick as it arrives.

Its funny i was on a bus recently and someone started smoking upstairs as they do and the smell of the smoke nearly made me sick. Crazy how it can effect different people.

Yeah you are probably in the majority to my knowledge mate. Most people I know that quit are like you and hate the smell of them.
