I thought recently that what he said about the Irish against France was kind of accurate, and he made a really good point about Ireland getting the Georgian penalty that was a ridiculous penalty. They just have to get on with it.
But then he turned around and apologised for that, he says he's "38 and going to make mistakes", contradicting himself and apparently going through some sort of mid-life crisis. What the fuck? I thought you were a man to tell the truth Roy, to say it as you think it is? If anyone had the right to have a go at the FAI it would be a disgrunted individual like Roy Keane, (unlike the FA who he's obviously never had a bad history with and the whole british public and players, he's personally offending their football).
So then I thought, okay fine, well Roy is obviously trying to get politically correct. And who can blame him if he's going to be signing or having relations with these players in the future... he can't be upsetting players like that. His shareholders might be very angry at him etc. Maybe someone advised him that he couldn't say very controversial things like that as manager.
But then he comes out and does this... attacking each player by name and individually. It's ridiculous. He came off well in a couple of interviews previously and maybe that got to his head, but in this interview he came off terribly.
Noone can really say how things were in Saipan, I might tend to fall on Roy's side for that. Obviously you can't trust the FAI to do a half a job anywhere. You can't treat a top player like that, treating him like a little toddler asking if he had something he'd like to say to all the players and then expecting him to apologise...???
I don't blame Dunphy for acting like his best friend for a long time and then disowning him, he's really not as smart or as "right" as he thinks he is.

I'm not saying he wasn't a popular player or even a bad one. He was deadly on the pitch but thats it. He could kick a ball well, hurray.

I'm sorry to offend but I'm not a soccer fan. Its so corrupt and everyone is starting to see it. At least everyone knows wrestling's a "show" and not a sport that refuses to use video refereeing despite the fact that every major stadium replays every rule break in slow motion infront of the TV audience and attending crowd on a giant screen. Yes soccer is a straight propper sport adhearing to fair play my arse. Don't fool yourself chief.

every point keane made is correct,sure people might not like hearing it but its still the truth...would it not be better for the game in england if everyone told the truth and stopped pampering half decent palyers and making them think they are maradonna or pele?

On the pitch roy keane was one of the finest players of his generation and a utd legend....off the pitchhowever he has at times come across as being a very bitter individual.He claimed we should we should get over it when we were cheated by france but then brought up saipan again in the same conversation.He is just a hypocrite at times.

siapan and henrys handball are completly different issues ,henry handled the ball during a game the ref missed it its over and cant be changed...siapan was an accident waiting to happen because of the ifa being a amature organisation in a professional sport...that said this thread is about roys interview which was 100 percent on the money he told it exactly as it is...what part can be refuted?

A bit harsh I think!
He brought Sunderland to the permiership in one season... It might be better to say he is not yet premier league quality as a manager... One bad season at Ipswich does not make him a bad manager.. There was a reason Ipswich were looking for a new manager in the first place.. Next season will tell...
As for Saipan.. He did say he should have stayed... eventually. ( I remember it from somewhere.. but cant remember the source.. its ages ago.)
I see him as someone to respect.. He really doesnt care if you or I like him.. or agree with him.. He speaks his mind.. Like everyone else.. he is not always right.. but mostly he is spot on.
