    Default Dyslexia.....An eye opener.

I never realised how prevalent / common dyslexia was until I began to notice how many people here say it affects them.

My ignorance led me to believe it involved difficulty with spelling and nothing else,......but having been curious enough to delve deeper with the help of the googlebox ,I'm amazed at how it can affect different people in different ways, and not necessarily to do with spelling.

A productive half hr on EI for once.

I have quite a few friends (real world) who have dyslexia, most of them very successful in life & they rarely mention it.
Seems to be the topic of conversation here for some at the mo. I applaud you taking the interest to learn more about it x

I guess it is more noticeable as forums rely on the written word to convey a message. In the 'real' world we communicate more verbally, but you are right that generally dyslexic people tend to be very intelligent and can do amazing things with their lives.

it boils my piss when people hijack the term though, I dont actually get angry I mean its just its a disservice to those that have/had it, kinda pathetic to claim it when they havent been treated for it/recognised by a professional

A kid in our school was considered slow, stupid even, then they found out he had dyslexia, his parents sent him to a different school where he got the relevant training and access to a great education,I met him and had a long conversation one evening years later,it turns out he was a dumb fucker, the dyslexia was not the cause after all.

I disagree Kate as in todays technological world, everyone (my friends with dyslexia included) is constantly on social media & forums. For business & pleasure. Granted, I dont think they are on escort forums, or I hope they arent on this one!
I didnt mean to make an issue of that though or offend anyone. So my apologise to anyone who is dyslexic on this forum if they thought I was. I was just stating my experience of my friends who have it x

What I didn't realise was that for one, kids (im not sure about adults as I have yet to read more) can show signs of poor organisational skills , have poor timekeeping and even show signs of "an awkward pencil grip".

I thought it was something that affected only spelling or writing and therefore that symptoms were always something that could be seen with the naked eye.

shes just saying that its more noticable on forums because everything is written down not spoken aloud Im pretty sure, so just adding to what you are saying really not disagreeing with it
