I was actually starting a discussion on this on another thread, but some not interested in rugby.

This one I have no idea about - unusual for me, I know. Does he put 3 ball carriers there? Unlikely. So who to leave out? And who to put at 8?

Agreed - but you look for a big improvement, you look at Heaslip (well, we do at Leinster). Look at the difference he made at the beginning of the season. And yet to put O'Brien anywhere but 8 would be wasting his abilities. And that's before considering Ferris.

I believe that if they are all fit then Kidney will leave O'Brien out, but I would have him in.

But as a Carlow man and Leinster fan I'll always fell o' Brian adds that cutting edge to the pack plus he's going through a purple patch . But what you say is true a balance had to be found . A tough call for kidney and his job on the line as well .: doc

Ferris is still not fit apparently so he can't be picked. We need a balanced back row and if Heaslip is back then O'Brien will have to move to 6. I'd like to see Jennings given a go at 7 as hes better fetcher/spoiler. I'd also like to see Trimble getting some game time and Reddan to start with Stringer on the bench. If we have a mare at scrum time then I can see us taking a serious spanking from the French. If that happens then i think the forwards coaching is going to come in for some serious criticism.
