    Default Gay Parade...

Irish President Mary McAleese has turned down an invitation to the New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade in 2011 because gays are refused the right to march.

    What do YOU think?

Good stuff out of Mary there. Gays not allowed to march is apalling. The amount of shite that does march , especailly in this country is a joke. Personally I would have no problem with them as long as they werent dressed as pic below. The only thing is its a family day out and I am sure the americans wouldnt want thier children exposed to sexual orientation matters at such a young age

Well said, no problem with a gay pride parade but I would like to think if they were to march it would be tactful with families in mind.

I agree with you GL. There is a difference between a Pride parade and a Patricks Day one. Folks would surely dress appropriately.

    As above..........

Well done Mary, no problem with gays being allowed to participate in the parade, but bear in mind it's a family day out.........

Not sure why but I was thinking of this woman today, and this thread has again reminded me of her.........

Sorry if this is a little off topic but I think it shows how one person, never mind a president, can make a difference........

It also highlights how oppressed people often participate in the oppression of others. How the hell could the Irish NOT have banned south African products at that time. The collusion with the NAZIS during WWII could be explained as 'my enemies enemy is my friend'.

However the SA situation is clearly supporting an oppressive regime something (Margaret Thatcher) also wanted to support, perhaps they should have taken their WWII stance.

The same (supporting oppressive regimes) situation is happening in SA right now, they banned the Dali lama from visiting last year...

What is wrong with the world! (back on topic)
