Now that David Beckham has been ruled out of the World Cup who will the British media focus on in the lead up to the tournament?I guess Rooney will be hyped up as the superstar of the team but I think England will not make it past the quarter finals at best.

I think your right here. England will probably never win again, at least not for the next 50 years. They have the players, they have the management but unfortunately they have massive egos and can't ever seem to play as a real team. Its so stupid. England dont need beckham. He is passed his prime now and they will have to see what the other youngsters in the squad can do. Throw Walcott /Wright Philips on the right wing with Gerrard and Fat Frank in the middle and J Cole on the left. Their only problem is if James starts in goal or if Cole and Terry start having a go at Rio Ferdinands or Micah Richards girls. England Quarter finals at best(Hopefully anyway. I thick Beckham will still go to South Africa anyway as a sporting ambassador(or whatever the term is.) He made himself very visible when London was bidding for the 2012 Olympics so as England are hoping to host the World Cup in 2018 he would be the right person to press the flesh with Blatter and company.

Lads i hate to say it but i think those limey bastards have a terrific chance . Becks would have been a great sub to bring on the last 20mins to swing the balls in for crouch , i'm gutted for him he'll miss the finals . If Rooney can get adequate support from lamp-lard&gerro,inger-land cud reach the semis max before,true to form,they implode during a pen shoot-out with the germans/italians/argies etc.They have a great coach but the media's suffocating negativity over-burdens the team.I hope Spain win but they have a difficult path to the final.Diego maradona's mania should prove compelling (if a little counter-productive to argentina's ultimate chance of victory) viewing also.

Ireland are - which they are - nothing wrong with taliking up your achievements.
