You'll be lucky if you're able to give them away!!! Putin is of course blaming the west for the state of his country's currency, there's a surprise , it's nothing to do with his policies/his stance on Ukraine/leaving summits early & not willing to reach compromises .....

I'll take them off your hands for free.
    All things go in cycles.
The price of oil and gas will in the future at some time rise again.
The conflict in Ukraine will eventually find some resolution. Barring a complete collapse of the Russian economy (a disaster for everyone both Russia and the west)the rouble will at some future date start to rise in value again. The question for currency traders is when will this happen so that they can make their fast buck.
Maybe Putin will show himself to be the Western loving teddy bear that his facial expressions always indicate not the defender of Russian interests and pride that a lot of ordinary Russians imagine him to be.
As usual it is the ordinary Russian people that will suffer most.

The real irony here is that even though the sanctions are biting Russia hard, in the long term the wider European economy may be the real loser. Its on the edge already with France in reality in recession Germany stagnating, belgium wavering and i guess
wouldnt take much to set back the baby steps the Irish economy is taking.

The recent(probably temporary)drop in the price of crude oil-due to OPEC's refusal to cut production and America's production of oil and gas from the environmentally dubious fracking-are also hitting Russia hard .Even if much of the population swung against Putin ,his grip on power is such that he would probably remain and if he were replaced he would be replaced by s'thing similiar.
Dictators and strong men have always ruled Russia and China (or a strong central control party )To be otherwise they could collapse in chaos as Westerners racently found in N. Africa and the Middle East.To offer democracy to people who have never had it often leads to chaos or a return eventually to the old ways of leadership.Russia had a Tsar ,had a revolution and go dictators(new Tsars)
We had a Westminster parliament ruling Ireland,1919 to 1921 rebellion, then a Dublin parliament ruling most of Irl. and prob. based on Westminster.
All revolutions betray themselves and eventually go back to what was there before.
