Default What one trafficked woman's *first* client did

Short answer: took her to the airport when he realised what had happened to her. Can you believe it? I'm sure TORL, Ruhama et al wouldn't.

So there are still some good people in the world.

I know of a guy who went to see an escort who he said looked dead behind the eyes, exhausted, drained, depressed.....basically all the signs of trafficking plus she couldn't speak a word of English. When he booked the appointment, it wasn't her he spoke to so when he met with the girl he spent the majority of the time trying to figure out where she was from, she had to use the google earth app on his iPhone and pointed to where she was from. He didn't do anything with her but when he left, he phoned the police and reported the situation so luckily that girl woman was rescued.

These zealots, although well meaning, would like present the image of a client as an uncaring predator who doesn't give a damn about the girl or her circumstances as long as he gets sexual satisfaction.

I'm sure that if they got up off their asses and interviewed a decent number of escorts they would realise that the average client does not come any where near fitting this stereotype and is actually just a normal decent guy.

Then again, perhaps they do know this but choose to ignore the "inconvenient truth" that most clients are not sexual predators because it doesn't fit with their agenda.

I don't think they are well meaning
They are interested in boosting their own egos and bank balances and if , in doing so, they harm the cause they claim to promote, well, thats just inconvenient

I'd like to think that they at least believe that they are doing the right thing.

They've just lost focus on where the real problem lies and are pursuing an agenda totally unrelated to the reality of the industry today.

I agree that there does at this point in time appear to be a lot of ego tied up in this campaign by the main protagonists. I think they might have their eyes on a well paid job with an NGO or some other body in the future if they are successful with this campaign.

I do not see Ruhama et al as well meaning.

    I see them as parasites.

Their sole interest is to perpetuate the victimology of sex workers , in order to secure their own further funding.

I do not see a well meaning if misguided entity. I see them as calculated and cold ; opportunistic and vulgar in their

methods of coaching 'victims' for media events ; heartless in their requiring anyone who might turn to them for help

to declare and proclaim that they have been victimised in order to receive assistance , when in fact abuse may not

    even be the case.

A Dub Established Provider I used to know and care a great deal for did a bit of social experimentation :

Went to Ruhama , told them she was ready to quit escorting , and was looking for a way out -- further education ,

rent assistance , information , etc. >>> there was absolutely NO meaningful assistance available or offered ,

but they did attempt to engage her in their re-education efforts.

    She walked away in disgust.

Well meaning zealots ? Only part of that notion is correct in my opinion.
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

So sad to know that the same scenario once this law is passed will just lead to the Police staking out the apartment and letting her get raped while they collect fines. It makes you feel sick.
