    Default British & Irish Lions

Warren Gatland has been named head coach for the 2017 Tour to NZ.
    Any thoughts?
I believe wrong man for the job this time.
Don,t think NZ will be shaking in their boots at his appointment.
Can,t see his battering ram tactic,s working against the All Blacks
A more dynamic approach is required.

I did expect him to be appointed. After delivering the first series victory since 1997 it was pretty much a sure thing.

I don't think 'Warrenball' will deliver against the All Blacks like it did against Australia.

I think success is unlikely anyway but how competitive they are will depend on who he takes with him as assistant coaches. I'm pretty sure that he won't take Joe Schmidt which I think will be a big mistake. The only way for a win will be to out think the All Blacks and the All Blacks are pretty pretty damn smart and Schmidt is one of the smartest coaches in Rugby.

Also I think that he will rely to much on the Welsh players because he is so familiar with them and those from other countries that deserve a place on the team won't get one because of his favoritism.

    Your 99% right there bud
They will be at least 8 Welsh players on the test team and I say he will have Sam as his Captain again
Bad choice I take a 3 -nil whitewash for the Black
Unless you are well over 6ft you are going to find it very hard to make the test team

Quite surprised at his re-appointment aswell. Will his Welsh selection bias continue again this time round?! 😜

Probably, he'll stick with what he knows. But I'm pretty sure it won't deliver.

    Hiya Guys,

    Long time no see

    Today is the day

Will see how accurate leeks were, eg Dylan Hartley to miss the tour.

Re Ireland: Sexton, CJ Stander, Furlong, Rory Best, Murray, O'Mahon pretty positive about them, think Henshaw can make it too, and maybe Sean O'Brian for his experience???

I was planning my 12 o'clock break at work until I realized I'll have a long meeting from 11am, joys of office life

I think he'll pick about 15 English , 13 welsh and the rest from Ireland and Scotland
That's the way I see it.
I think the lions are on a hiddening to nothing.
He will pick the squad that the All Blacks will love

Nice to see you pop up again here, Stella. Hope it is going well.

Earls and Zebo are in great form - might be candidates.

    This just in!!

Backs: Dan Biggar, Elliot Daly, Jonathan Davies, Owen Farrell, Leigh Halfpenny, Robbie Henshaw, Stuart Hogg, Jonathan Joseph, Conor Murray, George North, Jack Nowell, Jared Payne, Johnny Sexton, Tommy Seymour, Ben T'eo, Anthony Watson, Rhys Webb, Liam Williams, Ben Youngs

    Ireland have 4 backs

    And 7 forwards

Forwards: Rory Best, Dan Cole, Faletau, Tadgh Furlong, Jamie George, Iain Henderson, Itoje, AW Jones, George Cruise, Courtney Lawes, Joe Marler, Jack McGrath, Ross Moriarty, Sean O'Brien, Peter O'Mahony, Ken Owens, Kyle Sinclair, CJ Stander, Justin Tipuric, Mako Vunipola, Billy Vunipola, Sam Warburton (capt)

Happy enough with that, I taught Ryan might make the squad and I would have loved to see Carberry in there as a wildcard instead of Payne
