Lavender - the most over rated herb on this planet.

Was walking up the road the other night and this woman I know who is into all this energy stuff was there. She always on about energy and stuff like that. Her goal in life is to have a field of her own. I says before to her to just get the bus out the country and jump a fence. Goal sorted. Anyway she says would you like some lavender. Er n.....before I could finish I was standing there with a bush of lavender in my hand. It helps you relax says I. Oh it does. Is this all you have says I because I could do with a bit of relaxation now. FFS a bush of lavender. Its the most over rated shite on this planet. Can you imagine someone on their deathbed. The priest calling out last rites, Relatives and friends eating chips , reading the paper and looking out the window. There we go poor old chap. Heres a bit of lavender to relax you and take your mind off of dying. FFS Go to the south of France where they grow lavender in fields and everyone is slogging away. Nobody is lying around relaxed.

Being relaxed is different to de-stressing. When someone dies it is stressful if you care about them and you often question your own mortality etc.

Lavender is relaxing, in the sense of providing comfort for sleep. I have a cuddly lamb that you can heat up and it has lavender in it and I hug him at night (yes it is a boy lamb) and he smiles with his cute little face and I can smell the mild scent and close my eyes and enter into blissful sleep.

Alas he is not with me on tour and I miss him and am not sleeping so well. I'll have him back in my arms again on Saturday!!!

p.s. Are you sure your friend was not giving you heather? ;)

Mint is incredibly easy to grow. You have to contain it though, as it will take over your garden if you put it in the ground. You need an old sink or something like that to put it in.

Im growing a lavendar field in reverse, by taking samples like you have and putting them back in the ground, lots and lots and lots of them.

I used to like mint and nettle tea, but I had an intolerance test done and it said I was intolerant to nettle would you believe!!! So I'm on pure mint now :)

Totally agree with Sonnet, Lavender is an amazing aromatherapy oil but I get why some people don't like it, often referred to as an old lady smell.

I have a keen interest in Aromatherapy and Lavender is really good for all sorts of things, anxiety and depression, insomnia, scrapes and wounds and all manner of skin problems it really is a wonder plant!

I love the lavender smell specially for the body lotion or oil :D

Oh sweet jesus an aromatherapist amongst us. I mean smell yourself better? A herb ,an oil for everything and anything. Most with names people cant even say let alone spell.
