She is indeed right, they do have many female, foreign reservists who would make the perfect honeytraps. I could be wrong, but I think many people assumed sting operations would be next to impossible because they assumed the regular full time Gardai (mostly men) would be trying to organise them and no punter would be stupid enough to fall for it.
I think many people assumed that the police wouldn't have the resources to carry out this impending law and they are probably right. But the reserve force could easily do this and do it better than the regular Gardai given the facts outlined above and by Sherry with regard to their foreign, female recruits.
But what if you ring a number and it is indeed say for example a lovely sounding Eastern European woman who answers? What if said lovely Eastern European gets you all the way into a fake apartment and gets you to hand over cash and then informs you she is indeed a Guard? The game is well and truly over then.
I think people are wrong to assume that the Gardai wont use reservists to carry out stings.
I also think EI need to cut the crap with the reviews policy they have at the moment about not activating reviews if it not the girl in the pictures. This will be vitally important going froward if people have suspicions about profiles being honeytraps or stings.
EI also need to drastically up their game when it comes to verifying profile pictures as genuine, as one mistake is one too many and far too many get verified as "genuine" when its obvious it's a famous pornstar or model. That's just not good enough.
That's *If* the legislation is brought in which looks like a certainty at this stage and *if* the law enforcement in this country do want to make an concerted effort.
