Badge holders are handing them back like martyrs..........

No one trusts any reviews apart from their own.........

Luther is just being sarcastic here. I would be the same.

I learned that you are damned if you do something, damn if you don't ...

And if you do something, nobody comes to say: "well, it's not perfect, but it is an improvment from last time, so we just need to continue". Usually it is perceived as not good enough.

I suppose some numbers would have been very useful here.
El Gordo would have done some brilliant work :) showing the number of reviews handled during the years, ratio of fakes, increase of badges, additions of new feature in the photo system and come up with some overall "satisfaction score" that is not up to the max, but certainly woul be much higher then before.
