What do you think? :scratchchin: Are GCHQ 'in denial' on human rights and privacy?
I can see GCHQ's point, but it gives me a bad feeling. I think it is sinister.

They, and their Cousins, don't like this new encryption-by-default stuff because it makes them have to go and get a warrant to force their target to hand over the keys.

What they really want is to suck up Everything, about Everyone, Everywhere, All The Time, store it, search it and keep it forever. In secret, with as little democratic oversight as possible. Preferably none. And Google is just as bad.

I never thought I'd thank the Shinners for anything, but that word "Securocrats" is perfect. They are out of control.

Doesn't matter a damn, there's "backdoors" in pretty much every forum of cryptography in the form of the psudorandom number generator algorithms that are needed for all forms of cryptography, so all the on device shite (esically the wank Apple is pushing) will do is stop local plod having a root around your phone.

Also, just look at the strange demise of Truecrypt. So if the only proper FOSS encryption platform inexplicably disappears and all that's left is propriety code, that says it all.
