In 1986 the Gardai decided it was time to introduce
a new registration format for cars.
"we can track them-know whos who!" kinda thing

so, 87 D 1000

"The car was first puchased in Dublin in 1987, twas the 1000th
car to be sold!"

in fairness the blues can see all recorded owners and dates of said vehicle and addresses etc

Its just when people refer to a Limerick (first registered) car or Dublin like that is
where the current occupants are from-they are misled-resulting in my dismay :confused:
