I don't thing it will be long before they come down on us (punters who see independant escorts )mmm another waist of money and a few more notches in there belt instead of going out and stoping real crime. So live it up while we can cos the industry is growing and all good things tend to crash

Couldn’t agree more.....Biggest waste of time and Tax-payers money ever ! But I don’t think they will ever be able to stamp out this industry it would be like trying to stop the tide coming in with a few sand bags ! I know they are making allot of noise and getting all hot n bothered about Independent escorts but the reality is that they will just NEVER have the resources or the determination to be able to stamp it out completely. There will be challenging times ahead there is no doubt but I think there will ALWAYS be a punting scene here in some shape or form, there always has been and there always will be IMO.

If the sneeky bastards are employing entrapment or honey trap baiting regimes then they have stooped pretty low in my estimation.

Before we start making fleeting comments, this sounds like a specific operation to appease complaints from a certain neighbourhood against Kerb crawling. Escorting is still legal here in Ireland and any new girl is totally safe to work here.

The article clearly says they're targeting Kerb crawling, which to be fair is a practice that should be gotten rid of. It's also not a safe way for the girls to operate. Anything that targets exploitation or trafficking is a good thing. Independent escorts will be much harder to target and is not illegal.

I think we're safe for now.

Very true :)

The Garda have been using entrapment for ages for kerb crawling. A man posted here a while ago to say he had just been arrested for approaching a female officer in Capel St. Ooooops.

Still, it is interesting as it proves, illegality aside, some people will pay for sex no matter what the risk.

I would have to research it but as far as I know you cannot entrap someone into committing the crime of soliciting. I will look it up :)

Probably a difficult one to prove, but if the client had a recognised addiction might just get away with it.

as been said already the article is only about the Garda operation to stamp out street prostitution and kerb crawling. The only problem about this is that people that know nothing about escorting will easily mistake street walkers for escorts as they think it's all the same thing. No doubt certain people with vested interests will try to spin the story a certain way.
