How could a so called dog lover , assuming it was competition , Do that to another Dog , Just awful x
This is not about dog loving here, it,s business. The stud fee,s for a top class dog are unreal. I use to do a bit of breading years ago and a top Field trial chamion could fetch fee,s in excess of 5000 irish pounds in 1985 so God know,s what a cruff champion will make !!!
One just has to just look at the conditions of some so called Puppy Farms to see how a section of supposed Dog Lovers treat their animals. As Westsidex It's For the Money & Glory.
It's for that same set of reasons that many people do not want to see American Style Beauty Pageants for little girls get off the ground in the UK & Ireland.
Similar in horse world :
I own a horse as a hobby : He's a treasure ; can feel his soul !
Others I see treating a talented (or not so talented) horse only as a means to "a few bob" -- as they say.
The conditions of some horses in Ireland (and I'm sure elsewhere) are abysmal.
Same for race dogs , hunting dogs.
Heart wrenching.
I have a cousin who breeds dogs and she would show some at Crufts.
It is very cold bloodied and is about competition and money. The winners make a fortune from dog-food adverts.
It has also been suggested it may be an attempt to discredit Crufts.
I live in the countryside and I have always had dogs, but dog owning and dog breeding for profit are two different things.
In this particular case, the owners are saying that the dog was a beloved family pet as well as a show dog. You need to be a dog owner yourself to know how much a loss the death of a dog is. It is only an animal, but when a beloved pet dies its loss is sorely felt.
"No doubt dog was poisoned"

The dog is the superior being here, IMO. RIP
Seeing or hearing about a dog that has been hurt or killed upsets me.
I am a big animal lover and could never hurt an animal myself.
For this dog to be killed was an act of cruelty and is to me, murder.
Some people believed that it was killed because of rivalry withing the competition.
Why and how somebody could do this is just disturbing and you have to have a sick, twisted mind.
If they find this person, a good beating would be well deserved and I think the sentence for killing an animal should be the same has killing a human.
It,s all about the money, the winning dog make,s a fortune for adds and stud fee,s. A winning dog can net the owner somewhere between 50000 - 100000 and in people,s eye,s that,s worth killing for. Remember people have been killed for a lot less.
Sad part about this story is they killed the wrong dog, was his half brother they were after
We need more dogging threads !!
Now lets get a grip here people, while it was a despicable act to kill this dog it is not murder, murder can only be committed
against a human being not an animal.
Apart from all that, what do you think of the overall winner, a Scottie, much prefer the second placed meself,
By literal definition, you are absolutely correct, however people impose human qualities on an animal and therefore would regard this as equally malicious.
There does seem to be a lot of Facebook posts lately with naming and shaming those that have tortured animals. The other day, someone posted a photo of some chav that had cut off the ears and tail of someone's cat. Another douche bag had tried strangling a dog, sprayed it with hair spray and set it on fire! Fortunately, both animals survived, albeit heavily mutilated and maimed.
Murder my only be applicable to humans by definition, but it takes a special kind of twisted animal to do that to a creature. Of course, in this instance it would seem to be a killing to gain the upper hand in a competition rather than a 'sicko' killing, although in both instances, it shows little regard for life of a domesticated animal.

not in how they are killed
pain is pain regardless of whether it is for food or sport
They have made 2 arrests in the case, I just heard in on the news. They said one was a boxer who was hanging around outside looking a bit rough! and the other was a terrorist from Yorkshire or something, I think they said a Yorkshire terrorist:D
B'boom!
It's unimportant when an individual who brutalizes himself laughs at a dogs death. ;)
Apparently Jagger switched places on the bench with 'Pot Noodle' (the premier dog of this category) in the last minute .
It would seem the poison was meant for the highest ranking competitor ( : Pot Noodle ) , owned by the same people .
The two dogs were practically identical , and so the poisoner wouldn't have known the difference.
Now further allegations that an additional six dogs have been poisoned is being denied by Crufts.
What a heartless and corrupt world !! Disheartening :( x
To destroy a beautiful loving being , just 'to get a leg up' , just to hurt others and to eliminate competition.
Could make me cry .
I am disgusted .
I've always had kindness and admiration even , for Slavetoyou ; full respect to him for his passion and for 'owning' his desires.
But this glib take on a life cruelly taken speaks to lack of empathy , speaks to insensitivity , and to callousness.
I am really really surprised , and disappointed :( x
Could I say that they don't say a Dog was murdered, they say a human was murdered, its cruel and very painful way to die but some people are just not human
