yes, nothing to do with him persoally, but he like the reason of the mp`s who have milked the tax payers, if nothing was wrong, how come he`s paying the 40 grand back?
Its a bit rich of him to use his homosexuality as an excuse, this " I didn't want to shock my mammy" crap, its not as if he is short of cash , he was vp at JP morgan from 1987 -1992, the guy is a multi millionaire, he brought his sexuality into the public domain, he didn't have to claim expenses but he got caught with his hand in the honey pot.
any excuse for getting caught stealing
Yes. He was Chief Secretary to the Treasury in a government which is planning harsh cuts in services and benefits. So having fiddled his expenses for 40,000 is fatal to his credibility, and would have been fatal to the credibility of the government if he had stayed. Almost any other position in the government and he could have escaped with repayment and an apology, but not this one. The fact that he was gay and in the closet is irrelevant. If the money had gone to a female lover rather than a male one then the consequences would have been the same. And if he was so concerned about keeping his sexuality private then he should have filed expenses for his constituency home instead of his London one.
They say that he may do a Peter 'Mandy' Mandelson & make a come back. Do you think he should be able too?

if i were in his situation i would try to milk expenses as much as i could.
