An economist's take on "end demand" stragegies

As with much of economics, it's rather theoretical and makes some assumptions—though these seem to be sensible. There's a complicated looking graph, but read what he says, and it becomes much clearer.

His conclusion: "end demand" strategies (the "Swedish Model") not only don't work but are likely to have unintended consequences.

But, would politicians in Ireland understand it and take it on board?

Given that certain politicians in Ireland think escorts normally accept credit cards and that no-one does sex work by choice, it's probably fair to say they'll only understand articles with short words and lots of pictures.

I don't think they have much grasp of economics (or reality?), in the North our pious leaders have borrowed £100,000,000 from next years budget because they are incapable of making cuts . What will they do next year?
