Amnesty to call for decriminalisation of prostitution

This weekend up to 500 members of human rights organisation to meet in Dublin. Among the items being voted on are the call for the decriminalisation of prostitution.

With this happening in Dublin it's a prime time for our government to sit up and take note before going further with their new laws - but it will probably be ignored!

Amnesty International has called on Ireland to decriminalise abortion
”Ireland has one of the world’s most restrictive abortion laws. Seeking a termination even on grounds of rape, incest, or where the foetus won’t survive could get you 14 years in prison.
Thousands of women risk everything to travel overseas for an abortion. Many others cannot. Ireland is violating the rights of its women and girls. ”

As has the United Nations,
”UN human rights experts are clear that international human rights law requires the State to change Ireland's abortion laws. ”
We shouldn’t hold our breath on any of these issues. Religion in Ireland is more important than human rights.

Sense, logic and such things are something our elected leaders seem to run away from :(

Sense and logic dictate they will avoid controversial /divisive issues as much as possible.
Or go along with popular views in society..
Criminalising the client will find widespread ,probably majority support in Irish society.
Sense and logic are being used in abundance.
A politician , in anything like a democracy ,always has to be mindful of the next election.
