after seeing that cool kick that one of the dutch guys did to a spanish guy i was kinda hoping holland would win. Would have been funny imo.
Holland were an absolute disgrace and dragged the cream of football down to the depths with their fouls ,whinging, and crying and showed no class from one end of that game to the other. They didnt deserve to be in the cup let alone win it.
Westside.
Phew.. I'm just so glad Holland lost..
Holland played some of the best soccer at this competition. They were the underdogs but they had a great game plan that really worked. They were an asset to the competition. They kept their heads, they were a great team.
I think you're being influenced by those disgraceful, deranged fool clowns in the RTE studio (I don't think Dunphy is deranged... he just can't resist going along with it for the troll). Guess what? The only reason they love Spain so much is because they have all the most expensive players in the world playing for them. So in their minds Spain should win.
Spain played some of the most boring soccer we've ever seen at any world cup. Spain were a disgrace. Their matches were stupid. All they did was pass and pass and pass and pass and pass.
I think it's fucking stupid to give out about Netherlands tackling hard. Yes, they do tackle hard, so what?
Brady, Dunphy and Giles just see it as another opportunity to get up on their high horses again, call the referee a clown, they would have killed the linesman if he had made the slightest error, say that football is going extremely cynical... they're a joke.
Hope this is the last world cup Bill ever did.
I was a major holland fan before tonite and i desperatly wanted them to win but they played anti-football tonite...Yeah they played some good football in the group phases but they went out to seriously hurt the spanish...they were shameful, simply shameful.
They were not a disgrace, you often see tackles going in like that in a physical game. The de Jong tackle was a freak accident, he clearly didn't intend that.
It's not hard to pull out the worst angles and the worst tackles in a rought game and make a joke of the referee after a physical match like that, maybe he could have given a yellow card or two or three more.
This was NOT a case of the clever skillful team that played football winning over the physical, brute force of a team.... both sides played really good football (although there were times they both made bad mistakes as well). Spain's attacking flair was a joke.
If Spain was passing the ball around cleverly, opening up space, and Netherlands were cutting out everything with fouls I could agree with you, but Spain were not. It was the same old game with them. I bet Holland got a comparative amount of free kicks for what Spain were doing, even though Spain had more possession.
They were no disgrace out there, they should have had a penalty when Puyol clearly had his arm all over Robben, but of course the lads in the studio couldn't give a shit about that because they were too busy cumming over Spain. That should have been a clear penalty. If that had been against Spain, they would have talked of nothing else. Dunphy would be talking about how it was a disgrace to football, that a tournament had been decided on the basis of a bad refereeing decision that would have given a certain goal. That it was so nasty to do that because Puyol knew he could get away with a foul like that. What about Puyol's disgrace there? What about Spain's disgrace?
Holland did play some very good football during the tournament, but they also displayed some of the cruder elements of the game. Van Bommel went through the tournament kicking anything that moved and was lucky he didn't get sent off in earlier rounds.
He did the same with Bayern Munich in the Champions League. He could have been sent for for the stamp on Iniesta near the touchline but the ref & linesman missed it, and Iniesta got booked for innocuous retaliation.
De Jong wasn't even booked for his Kung Fu challenge on Alonso, whether it was intentional or not. If you jump into an opponent with your foot that high up and with studs showing, you are likely to hurt someone.
I hoped that both teams would play good, exciting football, they certainly have the players for it, but the Dutch tactic was to stop Spain legally or illegally, and more often it was the latter.
At the end of the day Spain won. I feel like celebrating by indulging in the lovely services of a spanish escort....anyone got any recommendations. Lol
Gee thanks Forrest .... never thought of her..;)
I know she is not spanish but vanessa gets my vote..:p:D

Feck Ya ...I tried a few combinations but none seemed right. Lol. Thats for the correction.
excuse me but ye are going off thread...you never see me doing that pmsl
Well done spain, well deserved win :)
I wish this thread did go off topic. You have it exactly backwards, it was Netherlands who tried to play real football throughout the tournament while Spain just played shitty boring football that just passed and passed and passed and couldn't do anything, had a shitty game plan but used their technical ability to win.
HUGELY disrespectful to Holland. It would be different if Holland were like Ireland in Italia 90, digging in at the heels and trying to defend every game. If it were Germany instead of Spain we would have a far better game. Holland played some of the most exciting football in the tournament unlike Spain.
holland played football against the lesser teams and then kicked brazil, uruguay and spain .van bommell and dejong were animals ,spain were slow starters but you cant deny they were the only team playing football last night even in the face of the hammering they were taking ...you sure you were watching the same game?
Netherlands were vastly superior to Uruguay and they well deserved to win against Brazil as well.
It was the Brazilians that caused that game to be so harsh, they had 20 fouls compared to Brazil's 19. They were like animals in that game. FIFA.com - Netherlands-Brazil - The matches of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Van Bommel may have "started" it, but they lost their heads over it and did outrageous stuff in that game that could have ended someone's career.
Spain had 19 fouls compared to Netherlands' 28 yesterday, and Spain could have had a couple of more ones. Puyol's holding back of Robben around the waist which would otherwise have been a clear goal is one of the most cynical examples of cheating I've ever seen.
Netherlands were the ones trying to play football, with through balls and sharp tactics, runs down the wing.... and they never gave up and shoved everyone back in their own box. Spain were just playing keep-ball. Why not just watch them play it on the training pitch if that's what you want?
Netherlands were robbed. There was a corner decision that clearly hit off the wall and went out for a corner to the Dutch, that was one of the worst refereeing decisions I've ever seen in my entire life. It didn't even get a mention in the studio.
They don't care about heart, they don't care about spirit and game plan.... an attacking style of football (compared to Spain anyway). People thought they would sit back for the wohhole match, nothing could be further from the truth. When they went down to 10 men they played with 3 at the back. One or two tough tackles that maybe deserved a yellow card... if it were Spain doing that they'd say "a bit of gamemanship there" with a little smirk. Spain got away with murder with their tackles.
ok you were watching a different game ...im not talking about the amount of tackles in the game im talking about the approach where de jong could have really hurt alonso and van bommel was booked for his 3rd kick at a player...sure puyoul dragged back robben...dont think that hurt robben much do you? and if your not impressed with spain playing "keep ball" against a team made up of the karate kid and vinny jones i can tell you i was impressed viva espana
They were fortunate to qualify from their group, had two relatively easy/easier games to get to the semis and four consecutive 1-0 wins to lift the World Cup. Eight goals in entire campaign, compared to Germany's 17. Lost against Switzerland in the opening game. And you know, I defended them after that. I thought Spain had more to offer. Even after 2-0 against Honduras, 2-1 against a ten-man team Brazil later whooped, I still defended them, I still thought they had something more. But game after game, result after result, they played dreadful football.
Their goal against Portugal was proved to be offside. They gave away a penalty against Paraguay when a goal for Paraguay would probably have won the match. All of their matches were HORRIBLE to watch, only their technical skills got them through.
How is that good for football? How did football "win the world cup"??? The only reason Dunphy, Brady and Giles were cumming so much over Spain is because their players are so expensive they'd be expected to win. Forget about heart, forget about passion. Other years they would be talking about how football wasn't physical enough, about how people like the older Dutch players like Bergkamp or Kluivert weren't used to getting pushed around. It's whatever the latest fad or "idea" around the studio is that they latch onto. There was a good game of football played yesterday between the two top teams in the competition, I think it's shameful how they treated it. Bill O' Herlihy talking about "let's celebrate Casillas save" and "let's celebrate Xavi" and "Everyone wanted Spain to win".... what a load of nonsense.
What we all learned from this World Cup is that NGAN is completely insane and no one should try to reason with him/it.
Im not a big Spain fan and i dont think they deserved to win the world cup like they played during the tournamet ( i thought Uraguay deserved it more) but they played football in the final and didnt lower themselves to foul like Holland did.If Holland won that game it would have being a sad day for football as a sport because the way they played was disgraceful. they should have being down to nine men in normal time alone.
a disgrace,
