What's a Gael to do?
What's Gaelige for "phonetics"? :D
(Fóneatics, probably).
No more foreign speak. You can only use english on the forums thank you.
foreign speak? how about you bite me!! ... Oh. right.
Lol at teh irony - no "foreign" Irish on a website named Escort-Ireland.:p
Haven't a clue what Fiona or Don are acttally saying (I was never sent to the Gaeltacht) but Fiona I think you may have hit on a unique selling point! The big O as Gaeilge (sp?)!
Obviously you folks were too young to have had to endure Peig and her life of f**kin' misery - think of the unrellenting misery of Angela's Ashes but a century beforehand and in Irish. I mean a whole chapter of s**t about a cow getting stung by a bee - leterary heritage my h**e.
Eh, may have gone slightly off topic there - Fiona you may just have found a new niche. Just be careful of the Aran jumper wearing gaelgoir types you may come across, er, I mean meet.
And before the CCE, FF, Fainne wearing set come down on me I'd love to be able to speak my language fluently but you all made sure that me, and my, and subsequent generations never will.
Think I might have said enough here ...
Be good all
Am here in a cold sweat but some of this c**p is actually coming back to me ...

Hmmm - maybe the later part is a bit out of context, but hey - that's what happens when you're taught a complete pretence for the first two decades of your life.
Or maybe not ... Fiona I couldn't the Irish translation of watersports anywhere! Wonder why because it's such a living language ...
Fiona am genuinely not making a joke at your expense - as you may have gathered I have issues with the way our heritage has been handled. *** Non-English portion of post deleted ***
And before any pedantic gaelgoiri p***k has a go at my spelling ask yourself why are you and all your other pals in jumpers are in the minority?
Here endeth the rant (for now).

What about setting up an Irish language forum on www.striapacha.com?
Moderator's Comment: The rule that posts must be in the English language has been around for a long time and Jackie posted a warning to this effect on this thread. Due to some members continuing to post in Irish, these posts have now been deleted and the thread locked.
