I will back Branden Grace top be south African player.
betfair sportsbook paying 8 places each way.
jordan speith winning the claret jug would make the final major of the year unmissable
I am go back Rickie Fowler e/w at 25/1.
jordan spieth best player i ever seen.I have never seen tiger in prime.
jordan spieth 7/1 way too short.
I've got Kaymer (40/1) and Schwartzel (80/1) both e/w.
Spieth has got off to a promising start but so have Jason Day and the 2010 champion Louis Oosthuizen among others, who are all within a couple of shots of Dustin Johnson. BTW I don't think too many people would have predicted that the amateur Paul Dunne would be the leading Irish player after 18 holes. Still a long way to go and plenty of golf still to be played.
Should be interesting when the wind gets up this weekend
Might turn it into a bit of lottery
Early start had a advantage today.weather could make difference to who win.
FRIDAY
Morning: Showers likely at times with temperatures in the lower 60's. Winds 20 mph with gust to near 40 mph.
Afternoon: Chance for showers with temperatures falling to the mid 50's. Winds 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph.
Tiger was rubbish today.
Dustin Johnson 7/4 with Ladbrokes crazy odds he could win but 7/4 just mad.
If the weather is as bad as they predict then the carnage will be fun to watch :)
I have big bet on Marc Warren to be Top Scottish Player. I am sick to see Paul Lawrie up there.
Wind is supposed to be like this most of the day.
Might be a struggle alright
Looks like a Monday finish at this stage given the weather problems. :(
Harrington on a charge -6 today one shot behind DJ, loads of players within 2 shots of lead.
edit: Paul Dunne now just one behind too at -9
Paul Dunne amateur from greystones leads the open by 1 shot on -11
:) ..... mad stuff
Dustin Johnson blows another major opportunity.
Went to the Connacht Final in Roscommon, should have stayed at home and watched the golf instead! Looking forward to putting the feet up and watching the final round tomorrow, looks interesting!!
two Irish men in contention is brilliant
Should be an quality day tomorrow
Realistically its Jordan's to lose. He just doesn't play badly very often, especially in majors.
What an outstanding performance by dunne just shows the quality we have in Europe
I don`t know who the winner will be at this point but Luke Donald and Phil Mickelson have been playing brilliantly today and are now both just 2 strokes off the lead. It could well go to a play off before the champion is decided. Hopefully Harrington and Dunne will still be in contention as the day goes on.
Whatever else may happen today this has been an outstanding tournament for the amateurs with four of them currently at or within 3 strokes of the lead.
Almost a 3,3,3 start for Harrington...put himself into great position, the weather getting worse may suit him more than speith or day too
Paul Dunne .....unfortunately nerves causing the wheels to come off at the moment.
Bogey for harrington following the double bogey probably finishes his chances in about a 40 minute spell
Zach Johnson looking good now.
As the two irish lads are out of contention I hope Jason Day wins now
Whoa spieth holes a long putt to go co-leader at -15, slam still alive?
Spieth now tied aswell
Playoff looking likely
Playoff looking good now
Great pitch into 18 by oosthuizen
looks like 3 way play off over 4 holes ..........
Tough playoff to call
Zack and Louis must be the favourites given their experience
Bad error by Johnson on the 17th
Well done Zack Johnson.
The Open: Watch Paul Dunne hug mum and Peter Allis joke "maybe he likes older women"
http://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/golf...ne-hug-6100339
or maybe he earns enough money to buy the missus a kitchen.
Great finish to the Open but unfortunately no luck for the Irish. Zach Johnson now has the Claret Jug to go with his Green Jacket from 2007.So its on to the final major of the year, the PGA next month, and there is a chance that McIlroy will be back by then.
Danny Willett got job done this week at 14/1.
