Thats all the clients and the whole industry going underground more so than ever so!
Cant see how clients knowing they have to be forensically careful about arranging and going through with appointments is going to do anything to increase safety of the ladies
I know its primarily targeted at trafficking ,but changing sim cards and making sure nothing can be traced is going to do harm to the new business end of the market.
Regular ladies are where the business will rest I think
Well i suppose that comes with the territory of the work, any girl will tell u that they know its a risky profession and its really up
to the individual to reduce the risk to the best of their ability. If then u dont feel comfortable u should change ure job.
Personally i work in the sector that loses more lives each year and has more accidents than any other in the country, if i wasnt
happy with the risk level its up to me to change my career nobody else.
i didn't expect to that ...
i knew about this but...
unfortunately it's the worst news for today..!
Ah, yes, the old 'occupational hazard' argument. I suppose manufacturers should stop putting seat belts in cars next because it's their own fault if the driver brakes too hard and goes through the windscreen. But at least some people will assess that and make that choice not to drive or get in a car at all.
The point is that....at the moment many ladies do feel comfortable with their work with regard safety because there are some ways they can ensure to the best of their ability that they stay as safe as possible.
This new law is not criminalising the ladies but it is opening them up to the possibility of further risk under the cloak of a law that is supposed to do the opposite.
Im guessing the sector you refer to has health and safety risks that lead to accidents?
This is a law that will lead to health and safety risks
Its crazy
I read this news in the paper while at lunch.
Samlad made the point this will put ladies in increased danger.
A post from Torl appeared on Facebook.
I made exactly the same point and was abused no end.
It's a tough one to argue against as most aren't interested or have an opinion based on propaganda.
I think it's the end :(
Anyone with any constructive ideas?
but its hardly that big of news or a shock as it was always in the pipeline, didn't we not all know this was going to happen
Indeed i value ure opinions highly as i do ure right to have them but that makes my opinion no less valid because i may disagree with yours. I just view life different to u, i set myself targets in life that have been achievable have hit most of them ,through hard work have made myself financally comfortable, have had to make sacrifices along the way but dont regret the choices i made. Where we differ is that i know the world is a cruel harsh place and if u are naive enough to think it will give u what u
feel u are entitled to u may be in for a nasty surprise, probably contrary to what u may think very little fazes me and i dont
do stress, just dont see the point because at the end of the day we are here for a little while and nobody has conquered
that reality yet
I agree with a lot of what you're saying, and like yourself, I am under no illusion of my mortality or the harsh lessons that life can teach us. I have quite often struggled with demons of my own, and what I would regard as the worst thing that could ever happen to me has already happened. I do disagree that, to a sex worker who is finding out that her livelihood is potentially more dangerous all of a sudden, she shouldn't be able to apply, in her own circumstances, that this is 'the worst news ever'.
At last a bit of common sense. Every buisness no matter what u do is always evolving and changing sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse but generaly the buisness will adapt to the new rules and changes and the very same will happen here,
u may have a period of transition but the whole thing will settle down and carry on and in no time atall it will be forgotten about
as if it never happened. Do u think this will be the main topic of discussion on this site in a couple of years time? I think not, we
will probably have a different crisis but i can assure u of one thing sex will still be bought and sold as it has been since time immemorial that will be the one constant and leglislation or law changes wont bring about its demise
How will this effect escorts prices...? With less punters active rates will have to increase.
If you were to continue seeing the established escorts there will be a drop in numbers of new ladies coming here.
What can we expect anyway? Coppers standing around outside apartments ready to pinch punters....?
Wasn't commenting on the emontion, its a pain but we will work around it, hey U can charge more old rates
Laws will passed changed abolished reinstated in governments regarding sex work
What does not change is the fact it always remains business as usual with some tweaks to how you work
Its one of the most adaptable industry it can fit in anywhere. Sugar daddies marrying well. Street work going out with wealthy men to get cash, escorts you cannot stop sex and you cannot atop people paying for it and profiting form it
Coz in most situation someone pays someone profits she married well is an old phrase
Not too many women marry paupers either, but someone who can at least support themselves
I knew it was coming but it does upset you when you read about it again.
I had hoped it wouldnt be passed in NI as rest of Uk rejected it and could have popped across the border but it just goes to show what a useless crowd there is in the stormont assembly and how useless and waste of money stormont really is.
I feel like this conversation has derailed a lot. Under Shatter this law would not have been introduced and now it is, because of an ideology rather than – and with no concern for – the sex workers' safety.
IF we are caught a few times visiting escorts and convicted does that mean we will be tagged, seems very harsh that if true, could someone explain that please as don't understand that bit
Yep That,s the way I look at it too, that,s what we,re all doing here. Unless they,re in the bed room watching the money being passed over for sex then they have no case :dunno:
Not unless the client and escort state in court that the money was for sex , I don,t think they have any case.
The people who , I think that are gonna suffer most are the street workers, I can,t see punters chancing any of them now in case they,re uncover.
Just illegal to buy it that's all.
I'm sorry, I'm a tad confused, could someone please explain, in simple terms, how a ladies safety will be compromised under this law ? I honestly believe it would strengthen safety, surely if something happens during an appointment, the girl, as she is breaking no law, can report it to the authorities with no fear of repercussions and the penalty for the punter would be greater as he is now breaking more laws ?
Maybe I'm just being naive, Caitriona, could you explain perhaps ?
sounds romantic.. or owt
