Cork slang is a language of its own boy... so to avoid anymore Langer questions here's a few more experessions I will be using in upcoming threads..
1. Go wan ya good ting (I find you relatively attractive)
2. I will yeah (when I disagree with someone)
3. I don't be able (something or someone I don't like, "she's a lasher, but I dont be able")
4. Allergic (something or someone I don't like "Him?.. Im allergic girl")
5. gowl or Lang Ball (A person I dont like or an eegit)
6. Rubber Dollies (runners)
7. A sconce. A gawk. (Both meaning to look).
8. Look over there la (please look in this direction)
9. Go on so (replaces the word 'Yes' a lot - example: you ask me 'Would you like a drink?'.....'Go on so')
10. He's away with the fairies (a spacer)
11. 'Are ye jagging?' or 'Going for a jag' (are you dating or going on a date)
12. Massuve (Something extremely good "Yer wan Ebs. is a massuve kisser")
The word 'like' can be added to any of the above...... like
Common experessions I have used in my youth...
To me mot..: "Sher dont I flas ya and buys ya chips..."
Me mot pertaining to me... "He gives me de odd bating, but I luvs the bastard.."
Lucy is proficient in all of the above, so in case I am not available to translate please consult Ms Chambers...
Class dismissed.....
