Look Ric Hardgear just made plain what I was beginning to suspect for myself.

I make people uncomfortable by being here, don't worry, I often have that affect on people, there is a reason I cannot go into with Ruhama watching and taking notes, but I can't help it, and I really do *not* like to do that, for one minute longer than I have to.

I usually avoid people completely for that very reason.

I would say everybody is as politically aware and willing to stand up and fight for themselves as they need to be without me now. So I am redundant.

It has been a surprise, and a privilege to come and know you all as you really are, not "as reputed". I am only sorry that could never be mutual, however, there are people here who have given me far more to take away and use to fight for the rest of my own life than I have ever known before.

I will be submitting on the consultation, and I will also be at the conference, but I will not be making anyone uncomfortable any more.

Hi ,

I am really sorry if I offended you Eilleen, this is just my sense of humour and no mailice was intended.
These boards can be a place where I can vent and nothing I say should ever be taken seriously by anyone.

I really need to get laid

While I try most times to avoid the politics of this game I will say that LBT contributions and what she has learned here are invaluable to all of us. Unfortunately it takes one idiot with a snithe remark disguised as humour to put some people off.

I would ask LBT as the rest have, to ignore this person and to continue what you are doing. I've had little interaction with you myself but I have been reading your posts.

I hope you take time to think this over and realise your true value to all of us here and further afield.:)

As the Queen of the land of foot in mouth (ask my friends, they'll tell ya!) and as a regular contributor to a variety of forums It can be very easy to type what seems (in your head) to be a witty, pithy, light-hearted remark. But sometimes you don't always see the other ways it can be read. I have done it myself and managed to offend people and I have seen it done countless times. When we type we do it to the accompanying voice in our head. If the other person is present to hear that voice and the tone used then there would not be offence, or if there was it could be easily sorted.
When all you have to go on is the bald written word the intention and tone can be totally missed.
Which is a long-winded way of saying I'm sure he never intended to hurt or offend you, and you bring a lot to the debates on here. Don't go.

Ric I will say here what I said in private. Probably much to your disappointment, you did not upset me, your words bouncing of some other stuff that is going on did.

Even so you really fucking need to recognise two things:

You absolutely DO NOT get to tell other people how they ought to behave, much less how the ought to feel. Partly a basic human rights issue, and partly because you honestly haven't got a clue.
When you throw out your remarks you have no idea what else is going on in a person's life and mind that your remarks might just seguey into in a really harsh way

Yes I do have a frivolous side but I rein it in here because it seems to be such a thread killer. Maybe when you start off in one role it makes people uncomfortable if you switch to another whatever the roles are?

I am very sure of myself politically...but extremelly unsure of myself personally.

If you are a political opponent, I really do not give a flying fuck if you survive the next 5 minutes or not, but personally I actually care about whether I am pissing people off or not...but to make it more complicated I am not exactly good doormat material either...

You know what I do? I don't give a feck what anyone thinks. We are not performing seals. If you feel frivolous, be frivolous. If you want to be serious, be serious. As long as you are true and honest, you have no need to worry if people like you or worry what you say. Some will, some won't. But you are being true to you. I think this place needs your angle, and you enjoy the angle we give you. So stick around. I don't smooze so count yourself blessed.

Ric is cool. He will never be a lickarse but he means no harm. You know how it is. We are all different.

I would, in common with others ask you to stay, you are a voice of experience and rationale in a somewhat crazy cyber world we all inhabit. I find you refreshing, honest and courteous at all times, qualities that are valued and would be missed. So hang around for a bit and see, hell if we haven't lynched Ric by sun up then we shall just have to try harder!!!!.

I am not that bad, I don't worry whether people like me or not (except Ruhama, it would break my heart if I thought they liked me! ;) )...just whether I am pissing them off or making them uncomfortable, to me that is like a kind of intruding.

Eileen, I have no idea what the above exchange was about, but may I respectfully join the chorus asking you to stay.

You are the one voice that has given me some optimism in this debate on legislation change. I am a punter and a coward and will not put my head above the paraphet publically. I will be willing to write/email in submisions in favour of the escorting industry but will always do so anonymously. Which makes me pretty useless and impotent in this whole affair.

On the other hand you have been there done that, and have come away without vilifying punters inspite of the fact that you admit you hated the work itself. You are the ultimate argument for why a woman should be allowed to make choices for herself in the sex industry despite calls to take away those choices to "protect a woman from herself".

You are also the only person I know of on the forum who has debated this on public radio despite the risks to yourself. I also understand that as a result of your stance you have been the recipient of significant cyber abuse.

This whole forum section on sex work and the law has been given a new injection of life since you joined. I was pretty disillusioned and pessimitic before you re-sparked my interest in the whole debate.

So Eileen please do continue to post. There will always be valid reasons why othe posters may not like what you have to say. It's all part of the forum and freedom of speech.

You know where I stand with regards to what I think of you.:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:.

And if anyone call this a kiss ass post - they can shove it up their own ass! I reserve my true ass kissing for when I actually see escorts!! :p

You know Lucy, I would give ANYTHING to have your core of self belief inside me?

But you said a very helpful mouthful because you made me think ("You get to WAIT for your mother to criticise you?" - AWESOME! :D) and believe me, the day I speak to my mother and she does not roll out a calculated strategy to dismember any trace of self confidence that might be threatening to develop, is the day I know it is time to bury her!

This could be a significant factor....

.

On the other hand you have been there done that, and have come away without vilifying punters inspite of the fact that you admit you hated the work itself.

I was just going through some old stuff and I came across an old victorian ring...just a plain silver band of spinels...

It was given to me by a very dear old man, who gave me a lot of things over time...like painstaking instructions and encouragement on advanced driving and 3/4 of my understanding of the internal combustion engine (What? So I am a wee bit too girly for you...LIVE WITH IT! :D).

He was really intelligent and had done a lot of extraordinary things (for an ordinary man, which he was) and met just about everybody...but he had never left home...

The ring belonged to his mother, and he gave it to me the night she died, because I listened, and hugged him until he had said all he needed to say...and he reached through every virgin/whore complex that ever blighted and Irishman's life to give me her ring as a gesture of respect and thanks.

Let's get back to reality...anyone who calls a man like that "rapist", "exploiter", "user" or "criminal" for ANY reason needs to see a psychiatrist.

But to call him any of those things because I did not enjoy doing a specific kind of work for him is beyond ridiculous.

I would have hated polishing his car even more...would that make him a serial killer?

The world is full of people who get a sexual kick out of abusing other people's need and disadvantage as leverage to seize control and bully them, and it is sick and it is wrong and they all belong in jail. Some of them are employers and managers, some of them are member organisations of "Turn Off the Red Light", some of them are service providers to vulnerable people who cannot defend themselves, some are teachers, some are parents, some are spouses, some are partners, and somewhere, right at the bottom of the top 50, several points below people who employ live-in au pairs and nannies, are a few sex industry clients.

Who do *you* think we should criminalise most urgently?

Eileen, just to echo what all the others have already said. I'm very pleased you've changed your mind and decided to come back.

We exchanged PMs early on when you first joined and I thank you sincerely for those exchanges. Not only have you been a breath of fresh air here, you've shared your views and experiences enlightening me for one about other aspects of this world. Aspects of escorting / prostitution I had never considered because I've never been exposed to anything other than what I have experienced through E-I. Your contributions have been very informative and have made me a lot more aware how complex any change in legislation is and the implications for those involved.

As Morpheus said, you're keeping the debate alive and keeping us engaged and aware of it. Great work

Unfortunately mostly none of your business really...and 100% none of Ruhama's (Hi Sarah  ).

Putting it generically, sometimes you can say something nasty and insignificant that coincides uncannily with a more significant upset in your target's life and reinforces it up to 90.

Please do not stop commenting on this site LaBelle. The vast vast majority of people here including myself recognise the amount of work and commitment you have given for our cause. We need you more than Spain needs Fabregas. Without people like you the Ruhama gang would find it easier to ride rough shod over people’s rights.
