This is, I quote "A campaign aimed at cracking down on the sexual exploitation of women at these and other similar events was launched in parliament on Wednesday." It's by the European womans lobby (Part of the European Parliment) specifically in reference to Euro 2012 and the London Olympics.

As I've stated in previous posts, I am absolutely opposed to the trafficking and coercion of women into and for the sex industry.

But as always there is no acceptance by above said organisations that women have the right to choose to be escorts if they so wish. Businesses in Poland and Ukraine and the U.K will all benefit this year from the above sporting events. It's interesting that the above women's rights campaigners don't seem to think that escorts (working of their own free choice) should be allowed to benefit from the same!

Here's a short excerpt from the end of the article with quotes from a few Swedes!! (Why am I not surprised?)

Speaking at the launch, EWL vice president Viviane Teitelbaum said many were expecting a boom in the sex industry when thousands of football fans hit Ukraine and Poland in the coming weeks.

She said experience had shown that any sporting event where large numbers of people congregate results in a "temporary and spectacular" rise in demand for sexual services.

She added, "The concept that sporting events are some kind of testosterone fest where boys will be boys is based on an outdated, macho vision of masculinity."

Another MEP backing the campaign is Swedish Socialist Anna Hedh, who called for a "zero tolerance" policy towards prostitution.

She said, "Sporting events can never be used as an excuse to tolerate sexual exploitation."

Her comments were echoed by Swedish GUE member Mikael Gustafsson, who said, "Men should not have the right to buy access to women's bodies for sex."

Ahhh yes...maybe we should just ban the Euros and the Olympics!! Or even better still just ban men from attending sporting events!!

This was on Euronews. It was very annoying the way that a one sided view was allowed to be broadcast. Saying that the sex industry is exploitation of women is never going to get anywhere close to full support. It is like saying that this faith or that faith is right or wrong or that this premiership football team or that premiership football team is the right one to support. How about having zero tolerance towards Swedish people who spout such rubbish. I won't be buying any ABBA music for starters especially since Benny Andersson funded one of these nutty MEP groups. Both women and men should have the right to choose whatever life style they want.
