It collects statistics etc for us... Don't worry, nothing like your name and address, just general details of how many people have visited in an hour, what other websites they have come from, how long they have stayed here on average etc. It enables us to offer a better service, because we can get to know our users better. :)

Is the information passed on though? And what do the third party do with the information?

BT were caught recently spying on their users (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=556068&in_page_id=1770) without their permission. Household name acting like this, illegally, total disregard for the data protection act. If they are doing it then how can you know its safe?

No the info is not passed on to anyone. Only E-I have access to it.

BT were able to do what they did because they were people's ISP. Even if we wanted to, we could not collect personal info like people's names, addresses etc, just because they browsed our website!

Patricia, i'm a sceptic ... i'm sorry but i am. E-I are not the only people who have access to this info because it passes through another server. Its the nature of the content that alarms me, thats may only concern (its an escort site, do i have to say any more)

They do offer a good service though, and its nice and tidy to work with. I can see why you would choose them. The point i'm making is they could use the data without you knowing.

But i'm guessing you read the terms and conditions, and have checked all the boxes. I dont like it but i had to ask.

What do you think Google could possibly do with your data? I mean, I don't think they are out to abuse your privacy, but just say they were... What could they do? They only have your IP address and this doesn't relate to your real name, address, email address etc. Only an ISP (or the Police with a court order via an ISP) can relate your IP to your actual recognisable personal details.
