Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas has issued an apology after allegedly insulting a gay fan at a Mc Donalds in Leeds.

Thomas, who plays Adam Barton on the ITV soap, allegedly called Rickey Platts “gay boy” and according to Platts, began "hopping up and down like a madman" and called him and a friend, who was dressed in drag, "queers".

Thomas’ most recent storyline on the soap saw him supporting best friend Aaron Livesy (played by Danny Miller) through a turbulent coming-out process.

In a statement, he said: "I deeply apologise for my actions and I am horrified to realise that I have caused offence."

Is he homophobic or is he just sorry because he got caught?

Probably because he got caught, most people are sorry when they get caught not before.

It depends reallly. I mean he could have been having a bad day himself and just vented with an easy target. I mean we can all say stuff in the heat of the moment. One incident dosnt make you homophobic.

Still though he says he is horrified that he caused offence ha ha did ye think they were joining nin and encouragingn him?

Eh? How do you figure that?

When men are homophobic, they are often in a rage about the negative reflection of themselves (camp men), why do you think this is a common trait when Str8 men lash out verbally or physically @ gay men?

Otherwise why would you care?

GL ;) ???

Because soem are just arseholes. I mean I hate the whole campness thing (read my campness thread which seems to have come back) Nothing against homosexuals I just hate the campness thing.

Anyway back on topic, you dont know how he was rasied, I mean his whole family could hate gays and that could have been in built in him. So he may not know anybetter, or seconbdly his family could be devout Christians who hate gays and etc etc

Or he could just be a prick who hates gays

Quite possibley. The great debate continues. All I am saying is that it is hard to work out why he did it. Is he homophobic, was his upbringing in that kind of mindset? Are his firnds homophobes?

Doozer

Or maybe his is just a prick.
PS his real life brother is in Corrie and his real brothers on screen brother is also gay. Maybe the family are just sick of being associated with gays.

Actually maybe he was constantly being called a 'fag lover' over the episodes and was just lashing out himself who knows

What about the term "fag hag"? Do you think it is insulting?

I know it is used for straight women who like to socialise with or have a circle of gay men friends. I have often wondered if they feel more comfortable in the company of gay men because they won't have to put up with predatory sexual behaviour from them or are they attracted to the more feminine type of gay man who maybe understands women better.

So, if you are'nt going to church this Sunday morning, you can instead spend it debating this interesting academic topic. :D:D:D

I realise that Gaylord. I've come across a few straight women, mainly escorts, who would often go to gay bars or clubs to hang out. So my question really is, when some women do not want to be pestered by guys trying to come on to them, do they seek out a gay environment where they can feel more relaxed and will be left to enjoy each other's company rather then having to spend the evening trying to ward off unwelcome advances? Or are some women attracted to sub gay types for whatever reason?

Hmm, I don't think I agree. A straight man (I might even go so far as to say the majority of) might be homophobic because he feels sexually threatened in some way by a gay man, not because he's gay himself. He responds to this with the threat of, or even actual violence, which your basic brain-dead male way of dealing with things.

Doctor Mousey, here to gently but firmly, almost sensually, probe into the dark, tunnel-like recesses of your most intimate area...

... your mind.

If you thought I was going to say "anus", you're obviously a big gaylord :D

I find that straight men who are comfortable with their sexuality have no homophobic tendencies...

Agreed. I've been around the Village when visiting Manchester a few times with my gay friends and I've felt very comfortable and enjoyed myself.

With more and more str8 men hanging out in commercial gay bars, this is becoming less probable that women can hang out without being hassled (str8 guy's have sniffed them out), perhaps it's the cool music and the fact that in the republic the gay bars are predominately mixed gay & str8...

Do you think that sub-gay guy's would be hanging out waiting for str8 women to turn up?? p.s what is sub-gay btw ;)

In my experience of going to gay clubs, I've kept myself to myself and just kept to the group, appreciating the fact that many women may go to these places to refrain from being harassed by straight men. As a straight man myself, I also bear in mind that in some aspects, I am a guest in a gay community, and respect this. I always politely decline advances of men just as I would if I didn't find a woman attractive, and carry on enjoying myself.

My first time going to the gay scene was out of curiosity really, not in a sexual way, but a cultural one. It also gave me the opportunity to spend some time with my friends that happened to be gay, and I enjoyed the company.

Ah the gay bars,I dont know what they are like elsewhere but the one I used to go to were full of stereotpical gay music, Queen, Boy George Frankie goes to Hollywood etc. Good laugh in there though I must say, Free condoms and lube on every table and a few guys asking me in to the toilet cubicals with them (I wonder why? lol)

All in all dodge music , but hardly any cues for the bar.
Free condoms, but avoided the toilets
Other than that had a great night.

Saw my boss in there too boy did his face go red when he saw me there

Yeh I hear they play lots of 70s and 80s music in gay bars........sure as hell beats the techno crap that you get in most clubs these days. Only good night I had in a straight club of late was in one that caters for the African brothers and sisters on a certain night....at least you could dance or shake your arse on whatever to the African sound.

By sub gays I was refering to those of a more effeminate disposition.....submissive or bottom guys if you will. I thought you would have understood my drift. :D:D:D

That might generally be true, but it doesn't mean that a straight man can't be moron enough to feel sexually threatened by a gay man, especially one with a strong personality. On the flip side, I like girls, but dominatrixes scare the living shit out of me :D
