We already had a topic on gay adoption where everyone shared their views now on to the subject of Gay marraige. Should two people of teh same sex be allowed to marry or just have a civil partnership or just be a co- habiting couple

As long as the two people are in love and care for each other,i don't see why not.I think with the catholic's churches power over this country on the wane it could defo happen in the next coule of years.

I have a cousin who moved to California who is now married to another man (this was before the referendum which stopped further gay marriages in the state). I'm happy for them. I wish it were possible here.

Untill we start getting tax discounts for being Gay, we should have exactly the same rights as everyone else!

My thought exactly GL. as long as two people can consent to be married I have no problem with it. I just hear a lot of people not wanting to give the same staus to a gay wedding if at all. they just want it to keep it traditional with a man and a woman. But in essence marriage is just the joining of two people into one so i dont see the problem.

Only the hypocrisy of the definition of what a family is. You need a piece of paper to qualify...and the fact that men in frocks get to make that decision through/using the Institute of marriage irritates me slightly :).

I'm all for rights for all, regardless. Also more Str8 people are affected by this than gay/lesbian etc, as more people are living in SIN these days :)

equal rights should mean just that, tax etc, but, not to have the opinion, that is the problem,

I mean the government and religious zealots are keen to have a man and a woman marry. But not a man and a man or woman and woman. Why because thats not how its supposed to be. Says who? err the bible. They forget that the bible was written at a time where marriage kept a family safe with land passing through marriage and was for the benifit of the woman. Times have changed now, They (anti gay marriages) want to preserve the sanctity of marriage. A gay wedding would be an abomination and would take from their marriages. Why? isnt marriage about brining together two people who are in love regardless of anything. As long as there is love and the ability to give full consent there shouldnt be a problem who gets wed.

doesn't bother me at all, if all people are meant to be treated equal then that is exactly what should happen. Discrimination in either a positive or negative way is always wrong.

Why not - who decided that a marriage has to be between a man and a woman? We all get one go round on this earth and my motto is go for it but don't hurt people in the process.

But, does the piece of paper really matter?

Well, I'm a straight single man, so my opinion isn't exactly first-rate; I mean fuck it, I'm not getting hitched to anyone right now, let alone a guy, so I can hardly comment, yeah? But for what it's worth, I think the option should be available for those who want it. If two people love and care for each other enough to want to get hitched, I think they should be let, and fuck anyone who says different. What business is it of theirs?

Thanks for the comment FKid. Everyone is more than welcome to give their opinion & yours does matter.

Marriage should be an option for everyone. If two people want to make that loving commitment then I don't see why they have to be of different sexes.
I must have missed the thread about gay adoption.. I'm on the fence on that one.
