Sorry I cannot give a direct link, but AI have voted (as is in line with the broader Amnesty family) to support sex workers from sex worker hatred laws!
Well done Amnesty Ireland, about time, now come on The Irish Council For Civil Liberties and The Digital Rights Association, let's be having Ye!
What a lovely one up the hole for The Evil TORLER SCUM!
They also voted to keep CEO, Colm O Gorman's !00K salary, actually Colm signed his previous group, 1 in 4 up for TORL, but given that he is actually known as an exceptionally decent human being, they obviously hoodwinked him!
Surely now the game is well and truly up for evil!:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:

Apparently, Amnesty UK voted for both decriminalization not the Nordic model and a neutral stance. They specificly rejected the Swedish model.

I am assuming the Amnesty Ireland decision was a separate vote?

Nice to see a rare outbreak of common sense on the issue. I was beginning to think the entire world had gone mad.

It has been very positive all round and quite a relief. Of course Twitter is full of people spreading doubt on amnesty and their reasoning, saying their votes contradict each other, which of course they do not. Voting no to making the buyer a crim, does not mean they have the answers, it just means they know when something is wrong!

A good decision, appears sanity has prevailed at last.

Folks, I may have jumped the gun on this one, it was most probably Amnesty UK! Not to worry, Colm's fantastic salary is still approx 100K per year!

Amnesty Ireland will publish its resolution results in the coming days.

Excellent news!!!!! Well done Amnesty Ireland.

On the separate topic of charity CEO's pay, when are we going to hear what the CEO's of the Immigrant Council and Ruhama earn?? Not to mention what both organisations actually spend their money on. It's certainly not on rescuing the hundreds of apparently trafficked escorts that the Gardai can't find!

I just learned that Amnesty Ireland, as opposed to Amnesty UK, did not even have a vote on whether they would support the decriminalization of adult sex work in its entirety. The only motions put before it were administrative motions. They are here:

http://t.co/1xv9u44XQU

In contrast to Amnesty UK, there were no human rights motions that were debated and voted upon in at the Amnesty Ireland Conference on April 12th and April 13th.

Amnesty UK's motions and results document is here:

This is a big anti-climax, I know.

Amnesty Ireland has explained to me on twitter just now that no motion on whether sex work should be decriminalized in its entirety was debated and voted upon because no such motion was put before it by an Amnesty Ireland member.

Amnesty UK appears to be on a different league to Amnesty Ireland I am afraid to say.
