Snooker player Stephen Lee has been banned from snooker for 12 years after been found guilty of match fixing.

Should be banned for life, same goes for the same crime in any sport.

Snooker may not be the most physical of sports, but it is challenging. One of the reasons I enjoy it so much is that unlike team games, it is a game where the outcome is 100% defined by the player's skill. There is no one else to blame but yourself.

12 years is far too lenient I think. Match fixing tarnishes the entire sport.

That will explain why I am so bad at it :(

To be far, 12 years is probably the right length of time. By the time it is all over, he may try and return but may not be able to because that cloud of doubt will stalk him forever

I used to be good at it. But given the lack of practice I've had over the years, my skill has diminished somewhat. Well 12 years is still better than the punishments given out in other sports I suppose.

you think you know someone eh. he wasn't a bad snooker player at all either but it doesnt help the game in general

great shame , such a talent, i heard about that premier league match where he made it v obhvious he was cheating.

lee was also fined £40000, is probably more than he got for throwing those matches.

12 years is a bit harsh imo, 5 or 6 is fine.

yes 12 years far too tough and thats a hefty fine too

probably more guys then just him at it too.

he's such a talent & will be missed but they clearly are setting an example.

yes sad to end this way and he was very good too, seems like a nice guy too
