United would never have won a European cup with Cantona.
He expected the game to run through him, but all Juve needed to do was put Paolo Montero on him, and United crumbled.
Fergie, genius that he was realised this and when he didn't turn up against Dortmund, the writing was on the wall

All very true, but without him would we ever have been in the champions league to begin with?

He was certainly important in that time period.
But there was a reason that France didn't pick him and United ended up getting rid (retirement was his way of making it a nice exit)
Certainly no great, but a great impact

A legend at Man U. but nowhere else - not on his native France nor even in Leeds? I often wonder why? Why?

He was their captain at one time. After his ban the manager wanted to stick with the younger players, and the younger player in his position happened to be Zinedine Zidane.
Ignorance, Martin, ignorance.
