We hear so much about the Norway and Swedish models, but what of the third Scandinavian country, Denmark?

You know, the problem with sex work in Ireland really does seem to be that of a moral issue rather than a justified cause to 'protect' sex workers that want protection by NOT criminalising sex work. It is interesting that Denmark was on similar par as Ireland up until they decriminalised sex work in 1999, and it is extremely interesting how this country has been left out of the debate completely, but then again, so has the German and New Zealand models.
I agree with this article; the Justice Committee seem to be 'entertaining' discussion and talking about what type of model to adapt as if the introduction of legislation is an absolute. We all know that Ireland and its strict Catholic ethos are really thinking:

The real reason behind this is because a large section of society see prostitution as immoral and they simply don't want it in society. They see the Swedish model as a quick fix to make everybody feel better about it.
But as we all know prohibition doesn't work.
The key part to the counter argument is that the Swedish model fails and actually makes matters worse... and that it is a bad fit for Ireland.

It does make you wonder if repression is the answer to the Church's prayers. We all know that people go loopy when they are repressed. At least sex workers are willing to provide a sexual service to help men relieve themselves of their natural urges rather than some poor random woman walking down a dark alley getting raped to satisfy their urges. Extreme, yes, but a bitter truth nonetheless.

I honestly think it's a bit of both, depending on who you're talking to on the TORL side.
There's some people who don't care about sex workers, they don't like the idea of sex work and will do anything to get rid of it.
Then there are those people who genuinely think they're doing a good thing, that they know best and that a few lies or exaggerations are acceptable if it's for a greater good. Then there are the people who haven't researched it properly and just believe what those above them say.

I noticed from the article is that they have set up a 200 person strong group supporting sex workers
We need such a group here
I now attempts have been made but sex workers/escorts need to put themselves forward and organize
