Cash-strapped college students turn to sex trade
http://www.independent.ie/national-news/cashstrapped-college-students-turn-to-sex-trade-3312186.html

they must have been desperate for a story, must be a couple of months since the Sunday Independent mentioned E-I.
According to this article E-I has pages dedicated to Universities and Colleges. Well they are listed here (https://www.escort-ireland.com/escorts/escort-locations.html), but only as a location, so is Belfast City Airport. Next it will be Air Hostesses turn to the sex trade to supplement their income.

Article and headline are poor stuff indeed nothing there, lacking in facts doesn't even tell how many ladies are being advertised as ucc escorts. Probably none. One would think this was a major issue. What a load of bullshit.
A proper article could have been written, with less effort, pro or con. Typical sindo, a 'sexy' story based on nothing.

The sex trade is about violence, abuse and nobody comes out of it unharmed..

Not all sex industry is about gangs and pipms.
Comes in my mind the police being bought by mafia and media turns the blind eye on it for fear maybe .

"We would caution and warn any young woman who would consider going into the sex trade to support herself financially.
Will Ruhama pay the school fees for those who are under financial pressure ?!
Are no jobs out there. What should those students do?! Give up or go for mayor delicts..?!

Ok...I think we need some expert opinion on this...plenty of that around too...

Few questions for all those of you with personal experience of paying college fees and expenses by any means:

if you stop a person selling sex...do college fees and expenses spontaneously pay themselves?
Can you study effectively with no food and no home to live in?
Will you find it as easy, or easier, to find a job to support yourself in this economy if you drop out of college rather than sell sex to pay your college fees and living expenses?
How realistic is it to assume that, with good scheduling, you will be able to sell sex, legally in Holland or Spain to pay fees and living expenses and still get back in time to attend classes appropriately?

Inquiring minds need to know this...

This is an escort website. We have various pages about locations, for search engine purposes. As Rodney pointed out we focus no more on university campuses that we do other landmarks like airports and sports stadiums and shopping centres and tourist attractions. Silly people want to make this into a story about E-I trying to lure students into becoming escorts, but I think we all know there is no evil pimp masterplan to get students to become escorts going on here.

Just Wondering:

During much more favorable economic circumstances than the present moment (and let's face it, everyone's tightening their belt to some extent these days), many young ladies turned to sex work, of their own accord, to finance their College or University studies, and post College/University went on to build successful careers for themselves not in any way related to the sex industry.

Why, then, are the media poking at/moralizing at the fact that in the current economic climate a certain number of "poor, unfortunate young girls having to degrade themselves" by working in this industry.

Some facts about persons working independently in the Sex Industry to support themselves:

Persons working independently in the Sex Industry are selling just that; sex. i.e they are not selling Crystal Meth or Heroin to teenagers.

Persons Working independently in the Sex Industry are not mugging people at ATM machines as they withdraw their wages on payday, or beating up Old Age Pensioners on their way home from the Post Office on pension day.

Again, these are just some facts.

You know I could actually have given a pretty long list of escorts on E-I, known to me, who have considerable experience of paying college (and post grad) fees and living expenses for themselves, and/or their children by excorting, but I was scared of causing offence by leaving too many more out...

There is another long list (which is people's private business) of ladies who qualified, and had great jobs until the recession took them away, and they either went back to escorting, to keep their lives together, or came to it for the first time for the same reason.

During the week it dawned on me that the NGO sector overall is striving to establish themselves as a new elite, like an aristocracy. They are paying themselves far more in salaries and expenses than normal people dare aspire too. The politicians are afraid to cross them because of the blocs of votes they can deliver with the use of propaganda. The press are afraid to cross them. In most cases their user groups are terrified of them because of the power they wield over politicians and service provision...healthcare professionals find themselves in the same position...play along with the NGOs...or go work in another country.

They are beginning to go to extremes to protect their exclusivity and make sure that it is very hard to qualify or establish yourself in any profession without submitting to their agenda.

It is WAY out of control (across the board) and time someone put a stop to it.

there is many a sad cunt out there, and we according to ruhuma and media and well most people u ask are ready made victims,

regular women, possibly nicer than most people out there.
I checked the ucc escorts section and there were eight randomly selected cork escorts. This about the new system here where escorts near certain landmarks are described as airport escorts, o2 escorts temple bar escorts or ucc escorts. That's all. The sindo assumed these women were ucc students. That was central weakness in this sensationalized story

Is it not possible that Ruhama or TORL are the ones who created said profiles to "prove" that "all escorts are unfortunate/exploited/only working in this industry out of desperation" etc., and then alerted "the right people" (Sunday Independent journalists, in this instance) to publicize this information , and now, by bringing the fact that "financially destitute" students are "resorting to sex work for financial support" to the public's attention, the Sunday Independent is effectively doing the dirty work of Ruhama and TORL.

It is possible that Ruhama and TORL created these profiles, for the aforementioned reasons.

After all, Ruhama and TORL have a history of skewing the truth and spinning lies to justify their own agenda.

I wouldnt put that behond them , but the location of the profil just states which area the girl is working from , not the reason she is doing it for . University areas are great to work from , cause the rents are not to expensive and the fluctuation of people grant discretion . Not nosy neighbours having nothing else to do then spy on others .

The truth nobody wants to tell is that the biggest pimps of all are probably the banks...how many women are selling sex to pay off negative equity...just because there really, SERIOUSLY isn't another way to get enough money to do that AND buy groceries...

One thing that makes me really, REALLY mad is this crazy assumption that sex workers work for pimps...

FORGET the fact that all the other women in the western world have a middle finger primed and ready for ANY man who tries to push them around or control them since the 70s...(the street women in the 80s thought any woman daft enough to work for a man needed psychiatric help...just like...well...any other women) APPARENTLY, ALL the 50s housewives have congregated together in the sex industry to make one last stand for blind submission to men!

Except...how come I have never met any of them?

I so wish I had discovered Escorting when I went to Uni as a mature student. Having split with my ex at the end of the first year, I took on all the financial burdens in order to stay at Uni and used credit cards. Oh what a silly move that was, as I'm in a hell of a lot of debt now and it's going to take me a long time to pay it all off. If I had seen a couple of clients per week while at Uni, I would have managed fine and avoided all the stress I have now.

If only I had not listened to the media and all the negativity. Not only would I have been financially sound during my studies and not had to take on 2 jobs that didn't pay adequately, I may have got better grades and not be in financial stress now. There are times when I forget I'm doing a job, but the satisfaction of being able to pay off debts however small, is the real reminder of a job well done. There are not many jobs that provide that satisfaction these days.

Is it not possible that Ruhama or TORL are the ones who created said profiles to "prove" that "all escorts are...only working in this industry out of desperation"

...remember, plenty *are* only working in this industry out of desperation...and given the times that are in it that is nothing to be ashamed of.

There are people in negative equity who have watched businesses run into the ground that they cannot offload...who cannot claim ANY benefits...there are other people who have been made redundant in 2008, retrained, and STILL cannot get work.

There will be a whole new wave of single Mums caught between a rock and a hard place because of changes to single parent's benefits. There are plenty of dual carers...mums who care for their children AND elderly or invalid relatives...

In the UK benefits are well below subsistence and in many areas there is no hope of work.

There are plenty of people who's lives, THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN (often the opposite) take in one or more of the above, and they most definately have turned to the sex industry in desperation because there just isn't another, realistic way to earn enough in the hours they have available to keep all the balls in the air and everything going, not just for themselves but often for others.

THAT is desperation...and it certainly isn't an excuse for deliberately destabilising their only source of adequate income, anyone who wants to do that is some kind of monster, and badly in need of horsewhipping...

...and Ruhama are FULLY AWARE of all the above.

Like some students right now who haven't even gotten their grant approved yet, are infact homeless sleeping in their cars not being able to afford to travel back down the country to their home, it's really depressing the situation some students find themselves in.

I read the article and I would take it with a pinch of salt to be honest, couldn't it be that the ladies just use it as marketing ploy by saying I'm a student in college? to attract a certain kind of client?

Funny thing, the Government think it's ok to withhold grants for 4 months after the start of term (which is not even manageable for young people from low income families) and the Indo reckons it is down to E- I if some students are selling sex to get by?

Maybe E-I bailed out the banks and built primary care facilities in James O'Reilly's constituency too?

My situation was exacerbated due to misinformation through govenment advertising, the fact that the CSA do not chase up or ask for payments once a parent leaves the Country, which allows the missing parent to take no responsibility for their child and the withdrawel of funds the moment a child leaves education, even if they have no job to go to.

The beauty of Escorting is that it is a job that you can start relatively easily without spending a fortune initially. You can test the water before investing too much and see how you get on. With my swinging back ground, it had been suggested to me several times before I finally checked out a website and took the plunge and I had well considered if it was something I thought I could do before going for it. I had been looking for something I thought I would be good at and it was perfect for me. In fact the only reason why it took a dire situation to get me there is due to the stigma attached and the deception involved in keeping it secret. I don't feel I can be honest about it, because of the bad press; which would also impact on my family and clients if they were seen to be visiting me.

In my experience there were always students in the sex trade. Some that I've known have gone on to be sucessfuly qualified, and no longer work in the profession, one is a pharmacist, another is a speech therapist. Another is semiretired as a housewife, but still welcomes a few extra € at Christmas, and back to school time. When her daughters move on to colege, she will do what she has to, to pay the bills.

Naieve Naieve milkman but....

is it a reasonable suggestion (now that Ms Horan has opened the door) that a number of the eloquent intelligent escorts that live in this parish get together and contact Ms Horan at nhoran@independent.ie for the purposes of an informal meeting to discuss the actual realities of being a current day escort. There are plenty of hugely eloquent escorts here like LBT,Saoirse , Lillian,Kate,Raquel etc ( sorry for omissions but the list is literally endless) and organise to meet up and set out an actual agenda of yere frustarations to discuss with Ms Horan.
Things like : what the the day to day living of escorts is actually like , the need(?) for greater regulation , the good and bad episodes with clients , the sort of earnings that can be made , how sex workers can achieve geater rights etc.
Even more important to address is the need to expose the likes of ruhama and their naked hypocrisy that is bizarrely being enabled by a silent media . The hijacking of trafficking by the likes of Bacik, zappone and the feminists as a trojan horse to eliminate sex work because it offends their ideaologies. The way that the truly unfortunates of trafficking are just puppets by some organisations to fulfill their own agenda. The default position of arrested brothel sex workers as 'being trafficked' as it (understandably) prevents their own criminalistion whilset buffering ruhamas' 'trafficking' stats - the almost symbiotic reltionship between arrested sex worker and ruhama.

My penis prevents me from being a credble contributor (after all, in the eyes of many , i'm a deviant) but like many purchasrs of sex on this site,i'd be more than willing to meet Ms Horan to give my reasons for visiting escorts.

After all, we can all 'thank' each other for relevant intelligent posts but ultimately, we're all preaching to the converted on this website. Now that Ms Horan has published an article maybe now is the time to contact a female jounalist with the true story on what it like to be a modern day escort - warts and all.

Would Ms Horan be interested?I don't know.
Would Sindo publish the interviews? Again, I don't know.Though they have published pro-escort articles before from Jim Cusack and Eilis O Hanlon.
And lets be honest, would the Sindo forego the chance to publish the word 'Sex' on the front cover? Not likely .
In fact the Sindo probably would be interested in a serialisation of the whole sex industry from actual sex workers to punters if only for the titillation factor.

As i said, as a punter, id be more than willing to meet Ms Horan (i'm sure other male candidates on this site would also be willing ) but ultimately ,the battle for the opinions of the lay people will be won by the escorts themselves. Maybe now via Ms Hoaran ,is the time that ye're voices should be heard......

most of the ladies i know, hold high degrees, me included and i will doing my second one shortly,

i worked in tesco, during my first degree, 8,75e an hour,
my second degree i will work as an escort at 200e an hour... kinda a perfect part time job for a student,

try not be so narrowminded pet

I highlighted yesterday that it is possible (and highly likely) that Ruhama/TORL fabricated those "student escort" profiles, and directed Sunday Independent journalists towards said profiles so as to "investigate" and "expose" the fact that "poor, vulnerable, financially destitute students are being exploited through sex work...", thus giving Ruhama/TORL fuel for the fire.

Said Sunday Independent article also depicted/portrayed that said students working as escorts as "feeling let down in themselves" at the prospect of "having to resort to sex work as a means of support".

Am I right or am I wrong:

A student working in Tesco/Dunnes Stores for circa €9.00 per hour over circa 25 hours per week (Full day Saturday, full day Sunday and two weekday evening shifts); this equates to circa €225.00 per week (for students fortunate enough to hold a part time job these days), plus all the guff that you are expected to take from customers and managers in such jobs (I worked in such jobs in my own student days, so I know what I'm talking about on this one :) ) , and then trying to find the time to study and complete assignments

VERSUS

To quote Saiorse "work as an escort at 200e an hour... kinda a perfect part time job for a student". A student working as an escort can earn alot more money in a shorter period of time; this will provide a student working as an escort with much more financial security, she can choose whom she sees and whom she doesn't see, has alot more time to study and complete assignments. It makes alot of sense when you look at the bigger picture.

If I were in such a position as those students, and had to make such a choice as the one just listed, I know which decision I would make.
