A lot of us don’t have patience when it comes to exercise. We want results, and we want them fast. For those who do have patience, yoga is a great form to try. It is good for your circulation and is also helps to increase flexibility, which is useful in the bedroom.
The problem is finding the desire to actually do the exercise. Yes, exercise is great for your sex life, but I’ve never been particularly interested in yoga… until now. It seems that some of the favourite positions can also be used for sex. Want to know how? Check out these yoga sex positions for some fun ideas.
Beginner: Savasana
This position might seem simple, but it is going to be great for you and your partner. One of you will lie on your back. You’ll then stretch out your legs, slightly apart, and keep your arms by your side with your palms facing up.
In yoga, this position goes by many names, such as the final relaxation pose. It is a pose you adopt to completely let go and relax. Often during sex, being too tense can actually make it difficult to orgasm.
So how do you adjust this position for sex? It is actually simple. You can either straddle their hips or lie on top of them. Focus on each other’s eyes as you fuck and you’ll find it it feels amazing. If you opt for straddling their hips instead of slipping between their legs, it’ll also feel more intense. Their body will feel tighter to you, making for an amazing orgasm. It is one of the easier yoga sex positions you can try.
Beginner: Balasana
The Balasana position is another easy one to get into. You’ll sit on your heels and move your upper body forward, so that you are leaning over your legs. You’ll move your chest down towards your knees with your forehead lowered. Extending your arms forward is the final part of the pose.
For yoga purposes, it helps to open up your lower back. This is often where we hold a lot of tension, and so loosening it up can help to relieve stress, which is excellent for us!
During sex, it is ideal for anyone interested in rear-entry. By curling your body up in this way it will allow your partner to take you from behind. They can also slip a hand between your stomach and legs in order to give you some additional stimulation.
Intermediate: Bridge Pose
The bridge pose a deceptively easy position to get into at first, but maintaining it can be a challenge. You’ll start by lying on your back with your feet flat on the floor. Then you will push your hips up to form a straight line from your shoulders down to your knees.
This position is excellent for your core, as you’ll tighten your stomach to maintain the pose. By building a strong core you’ll then find that a number of different activities, including certain sex positions, are easier. It also helps to stretch your body in a number of different ways.
It is a fun way to intensify either missionary position or girl on top, as it’ll add an additional challenge to it. You can use things like pillows underneath the body for extra support, and it’ll make for a fun twist on a firm favourite.
Intermediate: Plow Pose
To get into this position, you or your partner should lie on your back with your knees bent. You then raise your lower back up, as the image below shows, and straighten your legs. You can use your arms to give yourself some support.
This is a challenging position for some, as it can be difficult to get into. It helps to strengthen your back and your core, but when it comes to turning it into a sex position, it does even more.
The best thing about it is that it allows for deeper penetration. It’ll feel good for you both, and if your female partner is in the one in this position, you’ll be able to hit their g-spot.
Advanced: Downward Dog
The downward dog, sometimes referred to as the downward facing dog, basically turns your body into an upside-down ‘v’ shape. You’ll start on your hands and knees, straightening your body so that your ass is the top of the upside-down ‘v’.
It looks easy, but this is a tough position to get into. It’ll work your entire body and leave you feeling tired afterwards, which is why it will work so well for a sex position!
It is great for rear-entry, and is going to be a fun variation of doggy. It also engages your core, which can help to lead to some of the most intense orgasms of your life if you give it a try.
Advanced: Three-Legged Dog Pose
If you loved the downward dog then you’ll love the three-legged dog pose! You’ll get into this position by assuming the downward dog position and then lifting one leg to the ceiling, as shown in the image below.
This position gives all of the benefits of the downward dog, but you’ll also help to strengthen your leg muscles. Some people like to switch which leg their use in order to get an even workout on both sides of the body.
The best thing about this variation is that you can then rotate your hip to the side. It’ll make it easier to slip into, and your partner can support your leg if they so wish. It’ll be fun and incredibly kinky! What makes it even better is that this is the harder of the yoga sex positions, so you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment when you’re done.
Our favourite yoga sex positions
Typically when trying yoga in the past I have had difficulty with some of the positions suggested above. However, trying it during sex is another matter entirely. Your partner can support your body and it adds a kinky thrill to your workout.
