When it comes to sex, I have always found that alcohol is a bit of a double-edged sword. Yes, it acts as a social lubricant, but once I got the woman into bed, I really had a massive problem when it came to having an orgasm. I would just keep going and keep going until I had to stop. This wasn’t porn where women are happy to go 40 minutes; it was embarrassing for me and sore for her.
A Few Questions
I always had two questions. Firstly, was this just my problem, and secondly, why was it happening?
On the first one the answer was no; this was something that affects many, if not all guys. And as for the second one, there is an answer to that also.
It all comes down to signals from your penis to your brain and back. According to thesexmd.com, the issue is as follows.
‘Your brain and nervous system are shut down. Eventually, you are not getting the same sensation from your nerve endings to your brain or the same messages from your brain back down to your body. This makes it more difficult, if not impossible, to reach orgasm and ejaculation during sex.’
It seems that without the nerves firing correctly, your brain can’t build up enough stimulation to send the body into orgasm.
But how many drinks does it take for things to start getting more ‘difficult’? Well, according to the research more than 1-2 drinks can already start to impair a person’s ability to reach orgasm. There will of course be variations from person to person on how bad they are affected, but this seems to be the point where things being to go array.
Other Issues
As we know, alcohol can have a negative impact on sex in other ways also. Many people get ‘whiskey dick’ where they can’t get their penis up to begin with. Another issue is that fatigue can lead to them falling asleep before anything happens. (I am sure most of us have seen Trainspotting). Even worse, we can start seeing issues where lines of consent get blurred because they are either missed or ignored.
When it comes to alcohol, it is safe to say that the majority of effects are negative, and the disruption of the ability to orgasm is right near the top of that list.
If you do struggle to orgasm when pissed, I would at least restrict the number of alcoholic beverages to at most two. If you have real issues with it, I would minus two from that number and have zero drinks, just so you actually enjoy your experience and don’t get frustrated.
But worry not; if you can’t orgasm when you have booze in your system, you are not alone. In fact, have more company than you could possibly imagine.
