It really has been a fascinating, and also a rather worrying week in politics. After the UK voted to leave the European Union (against the wishes of the Northern Irish public may I add) there has been a lot of talk bout deportations, and an increase in racist attacks ect. But what does Brexit actually mean for the escorts who work on our site?
May I start by saying that I am speaking mainly to our Eastern European and Southern Irish escorts here. At the risk of sounding brutally honest, UK escorts; if the economy tanks, then there is no reassurance I can give you.
The Now
First things first. The UK has not left the EU yet. This won’t be for at least two years, so it is fair to say, as things stand, you can just carry on doing what you are doing.
Well, it is fair to say that the main thing that created the Brexit vote was immigration. A great number of people weren’t very happy with people coming from all around Europe, to live and work in the UK. This has led to to many people worrying that they are going to be deported.
Let me tell you, this won’t happen. Not even UKIP (elements of which are famed for being intolerant) have said that will be happening. If you are here, then chill, you are staying.
Now if you are staying, then you need to be prepared for certain things. The pound is going to fall in relation to the Euro. Therefore your Euro will buy you more pounds than it did before. However, when you try and change pounds to Euro’s, then you will get shafted.
Another worry is the border. Will controls go up between the north and the south? Well, until we leave nothing will change. You can spend all day jumping from one side to the other. You probably have better things to do, but if you don’t, go ahead!
The Future
There are the main things that are concerning people, but what is going to happen in the future?
Well, as I am not magic, I don’t know. But I do have a fair idea. The EU has stated that the UK will get no access to the free market without freedom of movement. This means that if we want to trade without charges in Europe, we have to accept that people from Europe can come, without limitations to the UK. This will upset many people who voted for Brexit, but will be great for escorts who want to come and work here. Now certain things may be negotiated, but the basis of how we live will stay the same. I can’t see how it won’t.
As for the border going forward. Well, I am less certain about this one. Though I confidentish that the northern and southern governments will want to make sure that you don’t have to show a passport if you are travelling from Belfast to Dublin, or vice versa, I can’t see it. I may be wrong, but I doubt it!
Finally, can I just say, all Eastern European escorts are welcome here. We are a tolerant nation. We don’t want to see you go. You add to the rich tapestry which makes up our country. Nothing is going to change that!
