Virtual reality porn is something that people haven’t been able to stop talking about. It is supposed to add a whole new level to your porn viewing. However, with VR porn you get an entirely new experience. You don’t have to stick with one point of view. It seems that those using this technology will watch two more videos than people searching other categories. This suggests that they are trying to find the perfect video to enjoy on their headset, since it is a far more immersive experience than simply clicking a video and clicking off again if you don’t like it.
Interestingly, Pornhub have revealed that “the highest rate of growth in VR popularity has occurred in Ireland and in the United Kingdom”, as over a 12 month period VR porn views have shot up nearly 250% more.
Why people think it’s a gimmick
But even with these statistics, people aren’t impressed. They are convinced that it is simply a gimmick, something interesting for people to try a handful of times before they stop. But why might this be, and is it true?
If you look at the total number of daily views for virtual reality video, according to Pornhub, there was a massive spike just after Christmas. We imagine that a lot of people received headsets as presents and so, when they had a moment alone, they decided to watch. After reaching over 900,000 daily views, the number of views fell back down to around 500,000.
Another concern for people is just how immersive it is. You can see from the video below that some using it forget where they are and get really into it. The last thing you want is to be watching a video in your room, only to feel someone tap on your shoulder because you had headphones on and were so fixed on the action you didn’t hear them come into the room!
Do you watch VR porn?
VR porn is interesting. It is immersive and can be a lot of fun, especially if you have found the perfect video to watch. However, at the moment there still isn’t enough great content for people to watch. This, and the fact that there seem to be regular spikes in viewing, leaves people to believe that it is nothing more than a gimmick.
