We love Rob Ford here on Escort-Ireland. No, he shouldn’t be anywhere near holding public office, but really, is there anything more fun in the news at the moment than watching the surreal tale of the embattled Toronto Mayor play itself out in front of a worldwide audience?
Just last week we brought to you the news that the had offended almost everybody in the world, when he had denied sexual impropriety with a staff member, by saying he had “more than enough pussy to eat at home.”
He has now gone and topped that, when during a heated debate, he knocked over a female councillor, shocking the world once again.
A Reduced Role
Now the hard drinking, crack smoking, alleged escort using Mayor Ford has basically been reduced to the role of figurehead, with his office budget cut by 60%, and allowing his staff to go and join the deputy Mayor.
During this debate Mr Ford denounced the decision, calling it “a coup d’etat.”
When members of the public began shouting “, shame, shame” at him, he replied by calling the “punks.”
It was then, during chaotic scenes, that Mr Ford is shown running around the chamber, straight into councillor Pam McConnell, who fell straight to the ground.
Another councillor asked him to apologise to which he replied. “I picked her up. I ran around because I thought my brother was getting into an altercation.”
Councillor McConnell was visibly shaken, and commented that she certainly hadn’t expected what had resulted from the meeting.
Mr Ford now has no real power in Toronto as he will no longer chair the executive committee. He does however keep his title, and can represent Toronto at official functions.
The actions are the strongest possible sanction that can be taken against Mayor Ford, who cannot be officially removed from office, unless there is a criminal conviction.
Keeping Fighting
There is no quit in Rob Ford however. He is going to seek re-election in 2014, and gave a strongly worded warning to his opponents.
“This folks, reminds me of when I was watching with my brother when Saddam invaded Kuwait.”
” And President Bush said, ‘I warn you, do not attack Kuwait.Well folks, if you think American-style politics is nasty, you guys have just attacked Kuwait”
It seems like there is plenty more to come from Mayor Rob Foed. Toronto must be so proud!
